Indian National Congress frontal organisation, the Congress Sewa Dal today started 3 day state level training camp for Jammu & Kashmir state at Katra. The camp was inaugurated by State Incharge Congress Sevadal Jammu and Kashmir Jawahar Sharma in presence of former Ministers Raman Bhala and Jugal Kishore Sharma who were Chief Guests on the occasion. Training program was organised by State Chief Organizer, Sewa Dal Rajesh Sadotra. The training program was conducted by master coach Manoj Gupta and Kuldeep Kumar. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Camp Commandant Brij Mohan Khatri, Karya Nayak Manjeet Singh, Cheif Instructor Pawan Choudhary, Vastu Nayak Vijay Sharma Babbi, Aavas Nayak, Dara Singh, Inder Parihar, Manzoor Ahmed, SS Jamwal, Rakesh Sharma, Jatin Vashisht, Geeta Nayak beside others.
Speaking on the occasion, State Incharge Congress Sevadal Jawahar Sharma said that the oldest organisation of the congress, Sewa Dal would now shun its ‘managerial’ role to speak for the party in public and associate with voters in states going in for assembly elections and general elections in country. It will also prepare ground for the party in India for the 2019 Lok Sabha. Volunteers associated with Sewa Dal in J&K would be trained to propagate Congress ideology in the masses through activities like Jan Adalat, Dhwaj Vandan and so on to counter BJP in small groups such as slums, villages and towns. The body saw its best time under the leadership of Rajiv Gandhi in the 1980s but many big shots in the party including Sonia Gandhi had been associated with the CSD. Like his father, Rahul Gandhi also feels was the link between public and the party. Rahul Gandhi commissioned several structural changes in the organisation which included replacing old nomenclature with more perceivable designations, dividing India into six zones on the basis of parliamentary seats, assigning a training module with courses on leadership development, nation building and national integration, appointing a spokesperson and assigning public engagement activities among other things. Besides, the Sewa Dal has been given a free hand which will allow them to increase public interaction. He further said that Congress party would not be cowed down by the communal and divisive forces who have posed a great threat to secular fabric of the country and would defeat their nefarious designs. He said that Congress Seva Dal is the backbone of the congress party and it has a disciplined and dedicated cadre all over the country to prorogate the Congress philosophy and ideology and combat communal and divisive forces in the country, who are spreading hatred. He said the state of J&K needs a strong organization like Seva Dal, to defeat the nefarious designs of communal and divisive forces. Earlier State Chief Organizer, Sewa Dal Rajesh Sadotra gave a resume of the activities of the organization in the state during a past few years and its future steps to strengthen the organization. Speaking on the occasion, former Minister and JKPCC Vice President Raman Bhalla said that Congress Seva Dal has spread the message of peace and religious brotherhood and asked the party cadres to gear up their activities and strengthening of the organization at various levels. He expressed gratitude to the Congress President Rahul Gandhi for building Seva Dal as a strong wing of the party. He lauded the party workers for their service to the party and Nation at the most crucial juncture and in most difficult circumstances in this state.
Bhalla referred to the vital role of Seva Dal in the Congress Party and felt the need to further expand its activities to educate and awaken the people about the policies and programe of the party.
He said that collapse of opportunist alliance of PDP-BJP has left a vacuum in the state, which has to be filled by the Congress party to serve the people. He said that time has come to confront the communal and divisive forces in the state in a more aggressive manner. The congress party has to defeat the disruptive forces in the state, which needs a strong co-ordination at all levels. Bhalla strongly maintained that that people of Jammu region wanted a change after a total failure of BJP to come up to their expectations, during their three-and-a-half year rule with the PDP. He was convinced that the party was getting a very good response because of the total betrayal of the BJP with their electorate in Jammu region. He urged the party cadre to further gear up the campaign as the mood of the people was favourable towards the Congress party, so that the BJP could be taught a lesson in view of their politics of opportunism. “BJP stands fully exposed on all fronts after coming to power in the state for the first time through an unholy and unprincipled alliance with an ideologically opposite party,” said the Congress leader.
He cautioned that BJP and others forces could go to any extent to mislead people on different counts for electoral gains, but we need to counter and defeat them miserably in the large interests of the people both in the Country and State. He said the ruling dispensation at Centre and previous regime in the State have done enough damage to the peace and development of the country especially in J&K State, resulting in deep alienation among the people, who feel betrayed and cheated by the PDP BJP coalition. The promises made to people during 2014 elections by BJP & PDP have fallen flat, not even a single promise was fulfilled, rather the contradiction in their approach and subsequent u turns, from time to time pushed the State to a darkest era, Bhalla said. The losses caused to peace and development by previous PDP BJP Coalition hurts us because Congress Party had done enough to restore confidence among the people and also did its utmost to restore peace in the State, but it is sad and unfortunate that the work done by UPA I and UPA II has been undone by the previous regime.I also reiterate my appeal to people in all the three regions to rise to the occasion to ensure defeat of opportunistic politics being played for electoral gains and ensure victory of Congress Party with a thumping majority in the upcoming Parliamentary and Assembly elections, for the fact, Congress Party only can only give a stable Government both in the State & Country, Bhalla said.
