Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC), has criticized the BJP for failing to deliver on its promises of “Achhe Din” (good days) for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a massive rally during the nomination filing of Yashu Vardhan Singh, the Alliance Candidate for the Kalakote-Sunderbani Assembly segment, the senior NC leader lambasted the present dispensation for depriving the Pir Panjal region of much-needed development. He stated, “The present government has completely neglected the Pir Panjal range, halting all major development projects initiated under the previous NC regime headed by dynamic leader Omar Abdullah. People across the region are suffering from a lack of regular water and electricity supply, insufficient government ration, and rampant corruption under BJP rule in the Centre. Instead of fulfilling its promises, the BJP has worsened the situation.”
Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized that the BJP’s failure to bring about real change has left the people of Jammu and Kashmir disillusioned. “The so-called ‘Achhe Din’ promised by the BJP has turned out to be a farce for the people of J&K. The development works initiated by the National Conference have been completely stalled, leaving the region in a state of despair,” he added.
The Senior NC leader criticized the BJP-led government for its failure to contain militancy in the Pir Panjal zone, highlighting a troubling rise in terror activities over the past two years. He accused the BJP Govt of inadequately addressing the escalating security concerns, leading to an increase in violent incidents. He emphasized that despite numerous claims of improving security, the ground reality in Pir Panjal remains dire. The rising trend in terror activities underscores the need for more effective and decisive measures from the government to restore peace and stability in the region.
Highlighting the strong presence of the NC-Congress Alliance in the Pir Panjal region, the Provincial President stated that the Alliance is leading in all eight Assembly segments in the Pir Panjal area. He reassured the people that the Alliance will work tirelessly to restore the region’s dignity and prosperity. “The NC has promised one lakh jobs for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, Rs 5000 financial assistance to elderly women for household expenses, 200 free power units to each household, free travelling for women in State transport, 12 LPG cyclinder per family in a year and many more for the welfare of poor and deprived sections of society,” he announced.
Alliance Candidate Yashu Vardhan Singh, in his address, invoked the legacy of his late father, Thakur Rashpal Singh, a two-time MLA who had served the people of Kalakote since 1983. He fondly recalled how his father dedicated his life to the upliftment of the remote and hilly areas of Kalakote, working tirelessly to address the challenges faced by the underprivileged. Yashu Vardhan Singh assured the people that he would continue this legacy of selfless service with the same dedication and resolve.
He emphasized that his focus would be on improving the quality of life for the people of Kalakote-Sunderbani through meaningful development initiatives. Urging the electorate to support the INDIA Alliance, Yashu Vardhan Singh stressed that the Alliance has committed to bringing equitable development and prosperity to Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that every citizen, especially those in the marginalized regions, would benefit from growth and progress.
With a strong message of development and social justice, the rally marked a significant show of strength for the NC-Congress Alliance in Kalakote-Sunderbani Assembly segment.
