BJP led government at the Centre is committed to protect the interest of the farming community through its policies and intentions. The government has taken various initiatives to improve the income of people engaged in the farm sector and that farmers now have options to sell their crops in Mandis as well as to outside parties.
This was stated by General Secretary of All J&K Panchayat Conference, Sarpanch Gurdeep Saini of Panchayat Gandli of RS Pura while addressing a Kissan Sammelan in Panchayat Gandli on the occasion of birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee which is observed as Sushasan Diwas. Agriculture Officer Vivek Sharma, Panchs Pawan Singh, Gurdayal Singh, Parveen Sharma, Somnath, Anju Bala, Satya Devi, Payere Lal Chairman Darshan Saini, Harjinder Singh, Avtar Singh and Amarsingh Charak were also present.
To start the programme, rich tributes paid to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 96th birth anniversary. The speakers highlighted the contributions of Atal Ji towards the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Gurdeep Saini appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing over Rs 18,000 crore to more than nine crore farmer families as the next installment of ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi’ (PM-KISAN).
He accused the Congress party of ignoring the interests of farmers’ in the 10 years they were in power and keeping them poor to ensure cheap grain prices. He said that the Modi government, in turn, empowered the farmers by implementing the Swaminathan Commission report and provided them remunerative prices through Minimum Support Price (MSP).
“This is merely the beginning. It will continue for 10 years and the total scheme is of Rs 7 lakh crore,” he said, adding that this money was not given to farmers but to the banks against their loans.
Saini asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are reaping the benefits of enormous Flagship Schemes launched by PM Modi led Government for the Union Territory. He recalled that BJP led government launched multiple schemes including Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhi-yan, PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Dhan Jan Yojana, PM Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan, Skill India Mission, Make in India, Swachh Bharat Mission, Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and National Sports Talent Search Scheme.
“Besides major flagship like Ayushman Bharat or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) is considered to be one among the world’s largest government healthcare programmes and Jammu and Kashmir has not remained aloof from its benefits since its launch by PM Modi. The scheme has created around 11.45 lakh ‘Golden Cards’ covering around 37 per cent of the eligible population,” he said.
