BASANTGARH, APR 30:
By its acquiescence in the negative campaign launched against the people of Jammu region in the aftermath of Rasana agitation, the BJP had not only betrayed the collective sentiment of its electorates but had virtually demeaned and diminished the people of the region, said Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister. He said that the people of Jammu had made countless sacrifices for upholding their secular values and pluralistic ethos. Jammu as the city of temples has been the abode of Gods and universally acknowledged for amicable co-existence of religious and cultural traditions, remarked Harsh. The present BJP-PDP rule however subjected the Jammu people to the most traumatic phases of shocks in the recent past when they demanded justice for the Rasana victim in the name of CBI probe dubbing them communal and fascist race, lamented Harsh. Not even a single voice from Jammu had emanated in favour of offenders with entire Jammu in one voice seeking exemplary deterrent punishment to those found guilty of heinous offence but only through the CBI probe which, he said, was wilfully being misrepresented and mis-construed. He was addressing a serious of public meetings in village Chakaal, Sia Merri, Chhattrairi in Basantgarh Tehsil of Ramnagar constituency.
Lambasting the BJP for belying the aspirations of people of Jammu particularly of District Kathua who gave it massive mandate, Mr. Singh regretted that its leaders were openly promoting the Kashmir centric and separatist agenda trying to extract the last pound of flesh from Jammu’s muscle in exactly the shylock style.
Seeking the immediate operationalization of Degree College at Basantgarh, Mr. Singh said that the classes should be started in the said college in next academic session and ambiguity with regard to its location should be removed. He said that the process for the said college having been initiated in 2013-14, it was named Dudu Basantgarh College as Dudu and Basantgarh both formed one contiguous CD Block. But after creation of separate Tehsils for Dudu and Basantgarh respectively, the college ought to have been given the nomenclature of Basantgarh College so as to remove the confusion which was unfortunately not done leading to a controversy, he deplored.
Singh called for early electrification of the uncovered houses and hamlets of Sia Merri, Chakaal, Chhattrairi and Balota villages. He sought early provision of staff in the staff deficient schools in view of irreparable loss to academies in said schools. He assured the public to rake up all their local problems and issues at appropriate forums.
