Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu & Kashmir held meeting of its Councillors representing various wards of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
BJP State President Ravinder Raina chaired the meeting, while former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta, Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, BJP State General Secretaries Dr. Narinder Singh, Yudhvir Sethi, Deputy Mayor Adv. Purnima Sharma and Chairman Baldev Singh Bilawaria also addressed the JMC Councillors in the meeting.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the meeting, asked the JMC Councillors to work in complete liaison with all the departments to boost development in their respective wards. He asked the Councillors to give individual attention to all the basic needs of public like electricity, drinking water supply etc., while also assuring them of organizational support in the matter.
Raina, laid stress on the point that Jammu being the Centre point of all the social and economical activities in the region, and as such, all eyes are fully focused on the city’s infrastructure, development, maintenance and innovations, for which JMC and its elected Councillors have to assume a greater role. Sharing useful tips with the Councillors, he asked them to assume the role of a bridge between the public, administration and the party. He also asked them to increase their interaction with the public to know and understand their issues well. He asked them present such a strong work culture that masses choose to elect BJP representatives every single time they go to vote in future.
Kavinder Gupta, in his address, cherished that after so many efforts, BJP has been successful in conducting local body elections in the state. Although he did regret that due to extremely less number of local elections conducted in the state in comparison to rest of India resulted in lack of development in past. He said that in order to do good in society by exercising our powers, first Councillors have to toil harder to seek complete information on subject matter. Advising the Councillors to do work to their fullest within their available resources, he asked them to be ready for the herculean tasks necessary for the making of a greater city, a smart city.
Chander Mohan Gupta, in his address, spoke at length about various issues raised by the Councillors regarding public welfare. He also appreciated concern of Councilors in respect to their ward residents. Talking on all the developmental issues in the areas falling under JMC, he said that Corporation needs to run like a family, understanding and fulfilling necessities of everyone, yet enforcing strict measures for the city’s own good. He said that a strong work culture has to be developed across all the legs of system making judicious utilization of all the available resources at the behest of the Councillors.
