JAMMU, June 20:
“The 2019 mandate India, including J&K, was a mandate for the revocation of divisive Articles 35A and 370. Dilly Dallying on the abrogation of these “Break-India” and “Destroy-Jammu/Ladakh” Articles amount to murdering people’s mandate and negating Preamble of the Indian Constitution,” said chairman of Ikkjutt Jammu, Advocate Ankur Sharma, here today during a press conference.
“Abrogation of these Articles, Constitution of a Delimitation Commission to give Jammu province due representation in the Assembly and implementation of the March 12, 2018 Supreme Court order passed in PIL titled Ankur Sharma V. Union of India and Ors. regarding identification/notification of Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Christians as Minorities in J&K have become imperative,” said Ankur Sharma, adding that the patience of people of Jammu province is ending and ending very fast.
The Central and the State Governments since decades have been illegally conferring all Minority benefits on the Muslims in J&K. What is due to the Non Muslims is being criminally siphoned off to the Muslims. Ankur Sharma demanded that this ‘injustice in perpetuity’ should stop immediately.
“Don’t test the patience of the people of Jammu province,” said Ikkjutt Jammu chairman
“People of Jammu province hoped that the BJP will fulfil its solemn commitments on Articles 35A and 370 and constitute a delimitation commission to redraw the assembly constituencies de novo to dispense justice to the socially, economically and politically ignored people of Jammu province.
The less than positive attitude of the powers-that-be in the state and at the Centre have only shocked the people of Jammu province.
Ankur Sharma said what shocked the people of Jammu and Ladakh all the more was the June 12 statement of J&K Governor SP Malik that the talk about delimitation was just a “rumour” and that there was no danger to Article 35A, Article 370, J&K’s separate constitution and separate flag.
That the BJP didn’t clarify its stand on what the state Governor had said in Srinagar has only angered people of Jammu and Ladakh and created a feeling that the party has no regard whatsoever for the sentiments, aspirations, needs and compulsions of those who once again gave them a massive mandate.
“Three Lok Sabha seats and 46.5% votes to the BJP in the just-held general election were not for the appeasement of Jihadis and anti-national forces operating in Kashmir. The mandate was against the votaries of Pakistan, self-rule, autonomy, jihad, Islamic rule in the tiny, pampered and over-fed Kashmir. It was for the full empowerment of Jammu and Ladakh and the state’s complete integration into India. It was for ending the 71-year-old Kashmiri Muslim hegemony and defeating Jihad and those who had been changing the demographic profile of Jammu ruthlessly and meticulously with the support of elements in the establishment by looting and plundering Jammu’s forest, state, municipal, JDA and panchayat lands and by grabbing Jammu’s Rivers especially Holy Tawi.
The people of Jammu and Ladakh gave credence to the BJP’s election manifesto and to the election speeches of the Prime Minister, the BJP chief and other top BJP’s bigwigs and they voted for the BJP in the hope that a vote for it will be a vote for the freedom of Jammu and Ladakh from Kashmir.
We have done our duty. Now, it’s the time for the BJP to reciprocate by repealing Articles 35A and 370 and setting up delimitation commission, ” said Ankur Sharma, adding that any lackadaisical approach on the part of the authorities and ruling elite would only help provoke explosions of portentous dimensions in Jammu.
Ankur Sharma also expressed shock over the casual attitude of the J&K Government to the March 12, 2018 Supreme Court’s Judgment to the Union Government and J&K Government that they must set up a State Minority Commission and identify the minorities in J&K so that the Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Christians and not the majority Muslims get all minority rights in the state.
He said the fall of the separatist Mehbooba Mufti Government on June 19, 2018 had given us to understand that the Raj Bhawan would constitute Minority Commission. It is unfortunate that the Raj Bhawan has not acted on the orders of the Supreme Court.
Ankur Sharma warned that any delay on the part of the authorities to abrogate Articles 35A and 370, appoint delimitation commission and constitute Minority Commission would not be tolerated and that Ikkjutt Jammu will launch a relentless struggle to achieve these paramount objectives.
