Former Minister and Congress contesting candidate from Jammu-Poonch parliamentary seat Raman Bhalla today lambasted BJP Government for ‘totally neglecting education and health sectors in State. This was observed by him while campaigning for Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh from Udhampur -Doda constituency at Jatwal, Dayalachak areas of Hiranagar constituency. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Ex MLC Subash Gupta, Ex MLA Gardhari Lal Chalotra, EX. MLA Prem Chand, Block Presidents, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Ward Presidents beside others.Bhalla said that there was no single recruitment of teachers and masters under SSA and ReT in last four years and further the ones who have completed more than 5 years of tenure under ReT are awaiting regularization.”Same is the story under NHRM scheme,” Bhalla said adding that BJP government failed to carry forward the development works started by the Congress government.”Hiranagar CHC was upgraded to 100 beds by Congress but in last five years no work was done on that,” Bhalla further said.During tenure of Congress Govt, Kathua got seven new Degree Colleges, University Campus, Medical College whereas on the contrary in BJP tenure the government even failed to expedite work on such projects and no new announcement was made.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that local MLA and BJP betrayed people of border belt of Hiranagar. He said from past 15 years people from Hiranagar had given mandate to BJP but still Hiranagar lacks behind on development front. Appealing the people to get rid of the ‘compulsive obsessive disorder’ of voting in favour of time tested failed parties time and again, Bhalla said that BJP has proved complete failure to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Jammu region.”You have tried them. They have miserably failed to espouse the cause of Dogras in the Lok Sabha. Whenever you voted them to power, their focus just remained on Kashmir while Jammu province was totally marginalized under their rule”, regretted Bhalla. Bhalla recalled that during the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in 2014, the people voted BJP to power with an overwhelming mandate in both the elections. While the BJP MPs from Jammu region remained mute spectators in the Union capital in five years, the party with its 25 MLAs in the State had compromised with the national and regional interests to stay in power, added Bhalla.
Speaking on the local issues, Bhalla said that youth, border dwellers and the farmers were the worst victims of BJP’s betrayals under its rule. He rued that the provision of reservation in Government jobs for the youth living along the borders at par with ALC had not seen the light of the day until now. He further pointed out that the border residents were living in fear psychosis due to Pak’s firing and shelling which had thrown their life out of gear.”It’s time to hit the last nail in BJP’s coffin, Vote for Congress Party, Vote for change. Only we have a dynamic leadership to raise your voice in the Parliament. We will not let you down, we pledge”, roared Bhalla.
Bhalla accused the previous BJP Government of taking the weaker sections of the society “for granted”, saying “over three years of their mis-rule these segments of the society were relegated as second-class citizens”. He urged the Governor’s administration for undoing the “wrongs committed by the previous Government and sought speedy implementation of various schemes tailored for empowering the weaker sections”.Bhalla said his party is committed to give greater political representation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) not just within the organization, but also in Parliament and State Assemblies. The Congress will ensure that all its party committees will have representation from OBCs, Bhalla said adding that the party has stood by the OBCs in the past including on the issues like reservation and will continue to stand by them.
