Jammu, June, 23 : Remembering great ideologue and 1st President of Bharatiya Jana Sangha, Late Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, BJP J&K paid floral tributes to its leader, held a seminar and released books related to historical struggle of Jana Sangha & J&K on his death anniversary.
In order to commemorate the Balidan Diwas of Mookherjee founder president of Jana Sangha, a grand function was organized at BJP headquarter, Trikuta Nagar. Function began with the laying of wreaths and paying floral tributes on the statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, followed by “Seminar” and “Book Release” function organized at Vaidya Vishnu Dutt Sabhagaar at the Shyama Prasad Mookherjee Bhawan, party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar.
Floral wreaths were laid by State President Ravinder Raina along with State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, MP (Rajya Sabha) Shamsher Singh Manhas, former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta, Former Minister Sat Sharma, State General Secretaries Dr. Narinder Singh, Yudhvir Sethi and other senior leaders of the party.
Seminar began with the lighting of traditional lamp, followed by singing of “Vande Mataram”.
In his Presidential address, Ravinder Raina, while paying his respect, told on this occasion that anti-national forces had hatched a conspiracy to separate Jammu-Kashmir from India, which was foiled by Dr. Mookherjee’s supreme sacrifice. It was the courage of Dr. Mookherjee that he rejected the permit system of entry into Jammu Kashmir by risking his life and sacrificed himself for it.
He said that Dr. Mookherjee was a saint of Modern World. He said that, he served as Barrister, got appointed as youngest VC of Calcutta University, participated in all the movements against the Britishers, served as Minister for Industry and Supply in Nehru’s Council, but later, quit Congress owing to its anti-people policies and laid the foundation of Nationalist Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951, which today has its base in every Indian State and even abroad. He said the life and achievements of Dr. Mookherjee are a constant source of inspiration for the party and the young generation.
Ashok kaul, in welcome address, gave a detailed account of life and sacrifice of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee. He highlighted the extraordinary intellect and academic excellence achieved by Dr. Mookherjee. He explained how he sacrificed his life for the true unification of State with Union of India, while fighting for “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan”. He also remembered Dr. Mookherjee’s association with the Pt. Prem Nath Dogra for the cause of J&K and said the Dr. Mookhejee lost his life for J&K which is a pure “Political Custodial killing”.
Shamsher Singh Manhas, dwelled at length on the political life of Dr. Mookherjee and his dedication to Nationalism. He urged upon everybody to follow the principles of the ideology and said that till today he remains as the source of inspiration to everybody. He asked all activists of BJP, which is the successor of Jana Sangha, to thoroughly adopt the ideology of Dr. Mookherjee in their lives and work for the achieving the mission.
Dr. Suresh Ajay Magotra, gave detailed account of struggles faced by Dr. Mookherjee and explained how he travelled form Delhi to Pathankot entering Jammu & Kashmir without permit leading the uncalled events followed. He narrated that after being imprisoned, Dr. Mookherjee was kept in a small room along with his two colleagues in a sub-jail of Srinagar. He also explained the way; he was given wrong medical treatment in the confinement. He also read two lines from the letter written by mother of Dr. Mookherjee, Late Smt. Jogmaya in which, she questioned, the then Prime Minister Pt. Nehru about her son’s mysterious death in confinement .
Seminar was followed by release of 2 books in Hindi, “Jammu-Kashmir Ki Sangharsh Gatha-Praja Parishad Ka Itihaas” and “100 documents-a Reference Book”, compiled by Kulbhushan Mohtra, Incharge of Library & Documentation Department of party, which were released by Party President Ravinder Raina and other dignitaries. The individuals who assisted in translation of books were also honoured on the occasion.
Stage proceedings were carried by Brig. Anil Gupta, while note of thanks was presented by Parneesh Mahajan.
Event was organized by Policy Research and Good Governance Departments of the party.
Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Mookherjee on more than 1985 booths as well as programme remembering the great ideologue were also held at District, Mandal and Ward offices across the state.
