Former Minister and Congress candidate from Jammu-Poonch constituency Raman Bhalla today held series of election meetings in Vijaypur and Samba constituency. Prominent among those who accompanied former Minister Raman Bhalla include Ex MP Madan Lal Sharma, Ex Minister Manjeet Singh, Ex-Minister Gurbachana Kour, Pandit Sidhu Ram, Ex MLA Parkash Sharma, vinod Mishra, Sunny Sangral, Ex MLC Noor Hussain, Youth President Udhay Bannu Chib, NC Th. Mahinder Singh, NC Satwant Kour dogra, Subash Bhagat, sanjeev Sharma, Suriender Sharma, Ch.Bachan Lal, Inderpal Singh, Ch.Bishan Singh, Rajan Sharma, Tej Ram, Babu Ram, Joginder Bhagat, Babbal Gupta, Cpt. Mohan Lal, Tirth Ram Bhagat, Rajkumar Bhagat, Som Dutt, Block Presidents, Ward Presidents, Sarpanches, Panches, Workers, and others voters and supporters.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that there is strong resentment among people of Vijaypur constituency towards BJP MLA who failed to address even basic issues of constituency.Majority of people maintained no new developments but only facelift of the previous works were done whereas untold stories of neglect were uttered by the border firing victims. People from other firing and shelling victims of border villages like Kamore, Langore, Camp, Naryana, Govindgarh etc were badly abandoned by BJP .BJP party was in power at Centre and in State too. It would have easily forwarded their issues through their government in State to the Union ministry concerned as a big vote in the Constituency was given to BJP but They never did so and took them casually,” Bhalla said referring to the former MLA.
Bhalla highlighted the history of Congress party and said that the leaders of congress party from the day of its origin have sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation. He said that only Congress party is secular and did not believe in caste, creed and colour.
He said that the BJP for the sake of power forgot the interest of Hindus for which the people of Jammu region have given the mandate to the BJP. He claimed that it is only Congress party which can keep the State united. People are coming in support of Congress party across the country and National President Rahul Gandhi will lead the nation,” Bhalla said expressing hope that in J&K too Congress will form Government on its own and will ensure all over development in all the three regions of the State.
Bhalla said that unholly BJP-PDP alliance only promoted communal and regional divide. Today’s situation is the outcome of the misrule and poor governance in the State. They have proved as worst failure and are trying again to befool people.Bhalla said alliance between the PDP and the BJP aggravated the divisions.
Bhalla regretted that in all this, common man was ignored in the state, and alleged PDP-BJP dispensation totally lost its credibility due to its mis-governance, which led to the failure of Government on all the fronts. He said problems like lack of basic amenities, unemployment and inflation in the state forced the common man to live in miserable conditions.
He observed that this regime antagonized all sections of people whether it was the youth, Government employees, women or even children, this government hurt every section of the society.
Making a sketching attack on BJP, Bhalla regretted that people of the Jammu region were back stabbed by BJP leadership as the party brazenly abandoned its core agenda and adopted indifferent approach towards problems of the masses. He particularly mentioned the water crisis in the area following which general public of the area was going through extreme hardships to manage water for household affairs be it drinking water, water for cooking and bathing. “Congress party fully trusts the Indian Army, which has been doing commendable job for the safety and integrity of the nation,” he said adding that Congress party has been serving the country for the last 138 years.People across the country want a change and they have openly come in support of Congress. Similarly, in J&K people know that it is only Congress party which can keep the State united,” he added.”Youth, farmers and business community under Modi government were facing suffocating due to their wrong policies,” he said.
The greatest official apathy which this Assembly segment faced is that previous Govt failed to pay due attention to the development of greatest twin pilgrimage centers of Purmandal and Utterbehni which are the part of Assembly constituency. These two pilgrimage centers have great relevance in Hindu scriptures right from Puranic period the people used to come there and pay their obeisance to the Gods, besides performing the religious rituals of departed souls as well as last rites of the dead. But both of these pilgrimage centers faced constant neglect as BJP Govt took no keen interest in their development and upkeep.Development of Purmandal as a pilgrimage centre would have helped in attracting more and more pilgrims not only from J&K but also from Northern India, and boosted the economy of the people living in this backward area. Had the MLA taken a stand in this regard during his tenure, thing would have improved, said Bhalla.
Jammu region voted overwhelmingly in support of BJP party. People of the region who complain of “neglect” were hopeful that the party would restore their dignity and honour. But during their tenure in Government, the BJP lost the trust of the people by ignoring sentiments and aspirations of people of Jammu,” said Bhalla. The “Agenda for the Alliance”, released on the very first day of the formation of the PDP-BJP coalition in J&K, did not cover all issues related to Jammu region. The people of Jammu province and the Ladakh region felt a surge of immense hope and expected the era of marginalization, discrimination, humiliation to be finally over. However, this has not happened and the result has been widespread disappointment and disenchantment across the Jammu province, added Bhalla.
