Jammu, SEPT 19:

Senior BJP leader and party nominee for Jammu North constituency, Sham Lal Sharma has reiterated party’s resolve to safeguard the interests of Jammu people and rich Dogra culture and traditions that were degraded for the past some time. He said Jammu’s honour, dignity and its holistic development remains top on the agenda of the party and every sincere effort will be made to restore its old and pristine glory.
Addressing a series of election meetings in Jammu north constituency, Sham said that BJP always voiced for the rights of Jammu region which was totally neglected by the Kashmir centric politics. Kashmir always remained the focal point for all successive governments, and Jammu wore the brunt of their apathy. People of this region were deprived of their rights, basic facilities ever since the popular regimes took over reigns of Jammu Kashmir from Maharaja, Sham asserted.
All major infrastructural projects including, roads, International Airport, health, educational institutions, and tourist resorts were developed in Kashmir Valley and Jammu received step-motherly treatment in every sector. Jammu was deliberately ignored and deprived to grow whether it was industrial promotion, tourism or employment, it always got raw deal that led to the negativity and anguish among people, especially the youth of Jammu region. But, now onwards, the BJP will not allow the injustice with this region and ensure justice in every sector, said Mr Sham. He called upon the people to reject Congress, NC and PDP, who ruined Jammu Kashmir by their anti-people and-national policies. These parties failed to deliver on ground and lost the confidence of common masses and have no right to come to power. He appealed to the people to vote and support BJP in the current elections to form its exclusive government for a stronger, peaceful and prosperous Jammu Kashmir.
In a significant political development, Devi Singh, the Contested Municipality Corporation Candidate of Congress from Lower Thattar, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with his supporters, strengthening the party’s position in the region ahead of the upcoming elections. Singh’s decision to switch sides is seen as a major setback for the Congress and a reflection of the growing support for the BJP’s policies and vision for Jammu and Kashmir.
