Continuing his vigorous campaign, former Minister and Congress for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary seat, Raman Bhalla today held series of public meetings in Rajouri and Mendhar area. Upon his arrival, Bhalla was welcomed by both NC and Congress cadre in the shape of road show in which thousands participated raising slogans in favour of Bhalla and claiming victory of Bhalla with fair margin. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Ex MP Madan Lal Sharma, Former Minister Shabir Khan, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Pushpinder Gupta Corportar, Anil Chopra, Sushil Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Seva Dal, Ishfaq Mirza, Subash Sharma, Khurshid Janam, Saharaz Ahmed,Manzoor Ahmed Mirza, Madam Parveen Sarwar Khan, Distt President Ch Abdul Ghani, Ex NC MLA Javed Rana , NC Sarpanch Panch, Block President, Imran Zaffar, Tahir Ali Mirza, Raja Wasim Khan, Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Mohd Safi Jagal, Mohd Iqbal, Noor Ahmed Choudhary, SP Abdul Razaq besides Sarpanchs, Panchs, corporators ,supporters, voters besides others in large number.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla castigated BJP government for neglecting Rajouri, saying that it failed to do anything for the welfare and development of the people of these areas during their tenure. Nothing was done about the unemployment and developmental issue like lack of road infrastructure, power supply and acute shortage of water and lack of health infrastructure. With a result these areas faced worst crisis of development related issues as BJP government only believed in photo sessions and press statements and no work is visible on the ground in these areas. Bhalla also said that the BJP also failed to take up the construction work of Jammu-Poonch 4 laning of road, a project that was sanctioned prime ministers package in 2015.
He also said that BJP government s failed to provide any relief to the affected people of firing across the border along LoC.BJP only created lot of controversies and hatreds between different regions and sections of the state, in view of their contradictory and narrow politics.
He said that at the time of forming coalition BJP had claimed that this coalition would bring the regions closure and bring about massive financial support from the centre but it has miserably failed on both these fronts as a result people of three regions are suffering.
Bhalla asked the party workers and the people to maintain the secular fabric and the traditional brotherhood at all costs and defeat the mischievous in this border belt from across the border and threat posed by the communal and divisive forces in the state. He said that people of Rajouri-Poonch have suffered a lot during three wars in the past and the proxy war by Pakistan but always maintained communal harmony in the area.
He claimed that Congress alone can ensure equitable development of all three regions with special attention towards the neglected, remote and backward areas of the state. Bhalla maintained that Congress represents each and every section, region and religion of the society and has the vision, policies and programmes for the welfare and unification of people of different shades and thus alone can ensure justice in every sphere of life and equitable development of all three regions and the backward and remote areas in the state.
He referred to the massive financial support during Congress regime at the centre which witnessed lot of economic development and infrastructure building in different parts of the state including the construction of prestigious Mughal Road project connecting the twin border districts with Kashmir valley which serves as a alternative route between Jammu-Srinagar via Rajouri-Poonch.
He said that the people of state especially twin border districts would always appreciate the UPA leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh and Smt. Sonia Gandhi for the Mughal road project which has opened new opportunities of economic development in the region besides the unexplored tourism potential of the area.
