On the eve of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, BJP Mahila Morcha Jammu District organized an awareness rally under the slogan of “Say No To Plastic”.
Mahila Morcha State President Rajni Sethi, Morcha Prabhari Priya Sethi, District President Rekha Mahajan, along with Morcha office Bearers and activists took part in this rally, which passed through main bazaars and localities of the district with the objective of reaching maximum people
While interacting with the people enroute rally, they said that the nation is preparing to say “good bye ” to single -use plastic and it is important that the people should know about the harm plastic causes to the human lives and environment.
They urged upon the shopkeepers in particular to contribute in this campaign as such efforts will add momentum to the Swachh Bharat Mission.
They also explained why we should say no to plastics bags as these are a big threat to the environment because a single use plastic bag takes 1000 hours to decay completely having made of petro-chemicals which are non-renewable. This means that the plastic bags will stay for a longer period of time and damage our Mother Nature, which is really dangerous.
District General Secretaries, Savita Anand, Sangeeta Anand, Divya Jain, Poonam Gupta, Surinder Kour and large number of people also participated in the rally .
