Accusing the BJP of trying to market the Armed forces achievements as its own, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister today cautioned the saffron brigade to refrain from drawing political mileage out of the exploits of the brave Indian soldiers. He said that while the credit for execution of successful air strikes goes to the IAF and military brass who had risked their lives by undertaking counter terror operations against Pak, the attempts of BJP leadership to politically own such air strikes were highly deplorable rather sacrilegious. He condemned in particular the statement of Karnatka BJP which said that surgical strikes would redeem BJP and catapult their party to the top position in the coming elections. Likewise, he added, the loud chest thumping exercise by BJP and using surgical strikes to attack opposition could prove counterproductive.
He said that such kind of posturing would not only demoralize our forces but give highly disturbing signals to world community that all such exercises are being undertaken for vote bank politics. He was addressing public meetings in Kougha, Kaghote village of Ramnagar constituency today.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that BJP which was voted to power in the Country and the state had failed to realize its grandiloquent promise of ‘Achey Din’, good governance, development, employment opportunities, literacy, poverty alleviation, etc and was only indulging in rabble rousing and hollow rants for political game. Taking a pot shot at the BJP, Mr. Singh said that the Saffron Brigade was busy politicizing the Indian Army’s surgical strikes across LOC on 26th February by trying to draw political capital out of the same.
He said that Indian Army had been carrying out such strikes earlier as well. While citing examples of Army’s valour, he revealed that in August 2011 a deadly tit for tat surgical strike under ‘Operation Ginger’ was carried out by Indian Army across the LoC in Kupwara which left 8 Pakistani soldiers dead and while returning back it brought 3 enemy heads against the two Indian martyrs.
Likewise, in January 2013 under ‘Operation Badla’ Indian troops completely destroyed a Pakistani post across the LoC in Poonch to avenge the decapitation of Lance Naik during which more than half a dozen Pakistani soldiers and militants were killed.
He said that such strikes should be kept as “top secrets” in the interest of National security and the political parties should desist from mutual recriminations for vested interests. Flaying the political discourse degraded by the BJP, Mr. Singh said that BJP should resist the temptation of bagging political brownie points from the surgical strikes which was the sole feat of Armed forces accomplished in national interests.
Expressing grave concern over deteriorated socio-political plight of the state during saffron rule, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that BJP had totally succumbed to the commands of Kashmiri leadership by sacrificing the aspirations of the people of Jammu region only for the greed of power.
He divulged that youth in particular had voted overwhelmingly in favour of the BJP in the Assembly elections but they appeared to be the major victims of Saffron brigade’s acts of betrayals and subterfuge.
He said that Daily Wagers and Contractuals of PHE, PDD, PWD, I&FC, Agriculture, Forest, Tourism, Education, RDD, Health & Medical Education, etc.
were languishing in open protesting for their genuine demands of regularization of services and release of pending wages for more than four years. He said that BJP being an alliance partner in the government had forgotten its promises and failed to project the issues of under paid employees inside the Assembly.
He regretted that while the families of such employees were pushed to starvation and other miseries, the power intoxicated Saffron MLA’s had fallen into a deep slumber.
Taking a jibe at the BJP, Mr. Singh said that where as the state government had doubled the salaries of MLA’s and the Ministers, the state treasury remained empty for more than 60,000 Daily Wagers and Casual Workers working in various departments. He urged upon the people to overthrow those who lured them during elections with seductive slogans but left them in lurch after ascendance to power.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Mrs. Manju Singh, Pawan Dev, Des Raj, Ramesh Verma, Sant Ram Master, Kaka Ram, Mohan Lal, Subash Chander, Rakesh Kumar, besides others.
