To observe the ‘World No Tobacco Day 2024’ ,BhartiyaLokSangeet Kala Sansthan, in coordination with Ministry of Culture,Government of India, Social Welfare Deptt,J&K Govt. and Sangam Tru Art Production presented awareness Nukkad Natak on “NashaMukat Bharat Abhiyan “at Durga Bhawan , Janipur Jammu, Jammu in its 430th Friday Series Musical Play “DHOOMRAPAAN LETA JAAN “on the theme is “Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference.” World No Tobacco Day, a global campaign.The programe was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Sh.V.K.Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity ,Government of India , Dr.Anju Dogra, Health Department, J&K Government , Dr.Anupriya Sharma, President Medical Cell J&K, Mukesh Singh , Media Person Jammu were the Guest of Honor. The day commemorated as well with sole aim of rejuvenating the traditional , Primitive Folk, Art, Culture of J&K Region in particular and Indian, ” Jab Bi Cigarette Jalti Hai”, “Dhoomrapaan Jeevan Ko Nasht Kar Deta Hai” , “Nasha Nai Kario Munde Kureio” , ” Bacho BachoTobacoo Kola Bacho”, Nukkad, Skits ,Songs and Dances were staged.The Chief Guestsaid the World No Tobacco Day is observed on May 31 every year. Tobacco smoke irritate your throat and lungs and cause ‘smoker’s cough’. This makes you produce more mucus and damages lung tissue. Ammonia and formaldehyde irritate your eyes, nose and throat. Cancer-causing chemicals make your cells grow too fast or abnormally- which can result in cancer cells.The main aim of this day is to create awareness about the ill effects of tobacco, the disease it can cause and the preventable measure. It also reaffirms our commitment to achieve social goals, initiatives to end drug abuse and strengthen community-centric approaches and expressed the resolve that India is committed to root out the menace of drug abuse at any cost and lauded the efforts of the organizers in making such awareness programmes colorful and effective.The theme basedsongs which were written by Dr.M.L.Dogra&the music was the programeassisted by Mr.Mahesh Chander Kotwal , Music Director, Blsks.The program was recorded & uploadedonline on Social Media for benefit of the peoples. Mr. Usha Raina , Treasure ,BLSK’ssaid this yearly celebration informs the public on the dangers of using tobacco, the business practices of tobacco companies, what WHO is doing to fight the tobacco epidemic, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations &Volunteers and outreach workers of theorganizations have gone from door to door, and nearby localities of Jammu city to educate the people about the ill effects of drug abuse and have assisted the rehabilitation of victims of substance abuse.
