Khour police under SHO Balwinder Singh foiled a bovine smuggling attempt during the intervening night when it apprehended a truck carrying bovines illegally. Yesterday night, an information was received that some bovine smugglers are transporting bovines illegally. Accordingly, a special naka was immediately laid by police party of PS Khour.
A Truck was signaled to stop at the naka, however, driving rashly, it jumped the naka and fled from the spot. The police party led by SHO khour chased the vehicle and stopped it at a distance. However, driver and co-driver fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. During search, 14 bovines were found tied mercilessly. The back chamber of the truck was sealed with tin sheet etc to avoid any suspicion. The number plate of the truck was also manipulated to avoid detection. The actual Registration no of the truck was ascertained to be JK12A-2805. Accordingly FIR No 69/2021 was registered in Police Station Khour u/s 188 IPC, 11 PC Act, 32.192 MV Act.
Police has launched a hunt to nab the owner and driver/ co-driver of the vehicle. Further, it is suspected that some locals are involved in theft and illegal selling of these bovines. Police has assured strict action against all the cuprits and have appealed the public to share information about any such activity in their area.
