Samba: Congress today paid rich tributes paid to Kargil Martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni on his 20th martyrdom day at village Plouta, Ramgarh. The programme was organised by Welfare Committee Ramghar & Shaheed Gurdeep Singh Soni Father & Mother.On this ocassion, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla and Congress District Samba President Manjit Singh alos paid rich floral tributes to Kargil Martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni from 8th Sikh Regiment , who laid down his life while defending Motherland on his 20th Death Anniversary.Parents of Martyr, Sarpanchs, Panchs and large numbers of people of the area were also present to pay floral tributes to the Martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni.
Bhalla while paying rich tributes to Martyr said that Gurdeep Singh faced the enemy without caring for his life. He sacrificed his life like a true soldier. Saluting the courage of the Martyr, he said that the victory in Kargil was an achievement for which the nation is proud of the soldiers and citizens must rededicate themselves to the cause of nation. He described Martyr Gurdeep Singh, a hero of their area and strongly criticised the Pakistan for aiding the militancy in the State. While our brave jawans are still on a tough mission to uphold the dignity of our nation, the least which the rest of the countrymen can do is to give them moral support. Though we are hundreds of miles away, living in comforts of our homes with our families around us, we must assure soldiers that we are with them all the time,” Bhalla added.
Asserting that India had emerged as a powerful nation, he said the whole credit for what the country had achieved today goes to the soldiers of the country.Meanwhile, taking a dig on the BJP, the Bhalla said since the NDA government came to power there had been tremendous increase in infiltration, unprovoked Pakistan firing and overall tension on the borders. He said the casualties of soldiers had increased manifold due to the wrong policies of the government. Bhalla said he saluted the valour, courage and sacrifice of the brave jawans that resulted in a “spectacular victory for our country in the Kargil War in 1999”. “Vijay Diwas helps in reminding our countrymen of the bravery of soldiers who are all the time alert in extremely difficult situations and environment in defence of our country and for the safety and security our lives,” he added.
Manjit paying his tributes recalled the sacrifices of the martyrs, who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. He said the nation is indebted to the martyrs, it is because of the sacrifices of martyrs that we are able to live in peaceful atmosphere. Singh on the occasion demanded Union Govt for announcement of various welfare measures for the NoKs of the martyrs. Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us of India’s military prowess & the great sacrifices our armed forces make while steadfastly keeping India safe. Every Indian acknowledges the efforts and gallantry of our Armed Forces. We salute the ultimate sacrifice of the martyrs of Kargil, and record our everlasting debt to their families,” Singh said.“Our brave soldiers ensured that India remains protected and gave a befitting answer to those who tried to vitiate the atmosphere of peace. We salute the unflinching courage and supreme sacrifice of all those soldiers who fought valiantly in 1999. Every Indian citizen is proud of their heroism and service to the nation.
