Campaign against Child violence launched

Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department in presence of Mr. G.A. Sofi State Mission Director ICPS launched a campaign titled Violence against children no longer be tolerated by signing the pledge, ” I Commit to do all I possibly can to end up violence against the children. I will raise voice and actions in case I find any child right violation.” The campaign is launched by National Development Foundation with the funding support of the European Union.
To mark the Children’s day a painting competition and symposium on was organized at Tawi Conference Hall Shakuntla Bhawan, Udheywala Jammu wherein eight schools including K.C. Public School, St. Xavier Convent School, K.C. International School, Kotwal National Institute of Teaching, JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School, G.D. Goenka Public School, BSF Senior Secondary School and K.C. Public School participated. Mr. Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus National Development Foundation / member Selection cum Oversight Committee under Juvenile Justice was the chief guest during the event and Mrs. Renuka Srinivasan Sr. Programme Manager Delegation of European Union to India and Mrs. Arti Khajuria Chief Functionary NDF were the guest of honour. Prof. Arti Bakhshi HoD Psychology University of Jammu/ member Selection cum Oversight Committee under Juvenile Justice, Prof. Diskit Angmo from Govt. PG College for Women Gandhinagar, Mrs. Neha Gandotra Chief Operating Officer NDF and Dr. Anupa Sharma Protection Officer Institutional Care DCPU Jammu were the judges for both the events. Mr. Parvinder Singh Programme Manager NDF conducted the stage. 22 children participated in the painting competition and 16 children participated in the symposium on the topic “Violence against children no longer tolerated”.
Ananya Kotwal from G.D. Goenka Public school stood first in symposium whereas Mr. Kavya Jyoti from G.D. Goenka Public School stood 2nd. Third position was shared by Ms. Sayeeda from St. Xavier Convent School and Mr. Karan from K.C. Public School.
Consolation prize was won by Mr. Dhansha Goswami from K.C. International School. In the painting competition Ms. Pratiyakshi from K.C. International School bagged first position whereas second position was shared by Ms. Aashiya from G.D. Goenka Public School. Mr. Pranav Rajesh from KNIT stood third and consolation prizes were won by Ms. Mehak Mahajan from K.C. International School and Ms. Khushi Mahajan from KNIT.
The winners will be facilitated during the valedictory programme scheduled on 20th November 2018 wherein Commissioner Secretary Education Mr. A.K. Sahu will be the chief guest. Mr. Rajiv Khajuria, Mrs. Renuka Srinivasan and Prof. Arti Bakshi also interacted with the children and responded to their queries regarding violence against children.
