Case against Shashi Tharoor in Sunanda Pushkar’s death transferred to fast-track court

NEW DELHI, MAY 24,
A Delhi court on Thursday transferred the case against Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in the the matter of the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar to a designated fast-track court.
Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmendra Singh transferred the case to the designated court of Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal as per a Supreme Court judgement which said that cases against politicians would be heard by a fast-track court, and fixed May 28 as the date for further proceedings.
The Delhi Police have charged Mr. Tharoor under sections 498A(husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 306(abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
Pushkar was found dead in the suite of a five star hotel in the Capital on January 17, 2014.
The police had lodged an FIR in the matter on January 1, 2015 against unidentified persons under 302 (murder) of IPC.
