In an extra ordinary meeting held by the J&K need base and casual laborers of the EM & RE wing power development department, Jammu on 24-08-2018 in which prominent leaders of the union participated .The meeting was chaired by the Akhil Sharma president of the union .In this meeting, it was highlighted the demands of the poor need base and casual laborers who are the worst hit sufferers due to then payment of their wages pending with the department since last seven years inspite of submitting our demands to the concerned authorities from time to time for considering and releasing and disbursing of the wages, keeping in view the price hike of the essential commodities and without the wages our workers dependent family members like childrens,old aged and affirmed parents are the worst hit sufferers .The workers are unable to pay the tuition school fee to their wards geeting their education in the schools and also geeting the treatment of the dependent members at the time of the health problems whenever arises, thus the workers are surviving at the mercy of almighty .The union has been ensured by the various officers of the department that their demands will be considered at various occasions ,but all in vain, which has forced to us to go on 72 hours strike on 8th day of October ,218 onwards ,decided by the leaders of the union in an extra ordinary meeting unanimously.
Shri Akhil Sharma president of the union threatened to the government that in case our demands are not considered then we shall be forced to extend the strike for further period which will be notified separately.
Mr.Sharma appeals to the chief Engineer ,E.M.R.E wing Jammu to ensure the union for considering our demand within the time frame period in a written so that the union can decide the future course of action.
Mr.Sharma further said that the government of Jammu and Kashmir is making a dual polity for the regions when the workers of the need base and casual labourers in the Kashmir valley ,whose are being paid from the out source on the regular monthly basis while as the Jammu division has been ignored .Earlier on the workers of the Jammu division was paid their wages against the progress work and now the department has stopped it.
