Central University of Jammu Organizes Plantation Drive, Awareness Sessions Under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign

Central University of Jammu under Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign with theme “Swabhav Swachhata Sanskaar Swachhata”organized a number of events toward creating awareness of environmental and community participation. Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu, appreciated the efforts and conveyed his heartfelt congratulations for the success of all these events. He appreciated efforts of the organizers and the participants and underlined the significance of such actions for the creation of the cleaner environment of the future.
He further said, that this country-wide campaign, Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 at the Central University of Jammu has not only educated the faculty and students on environmental issues and the responsibility each one in society bears to keep our environment clean but also engaged the university in a hands-on approach towards the realization of ensuring a clean India by the year 2024.
The event Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam plantation drive was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students Welfare and Lt Dr. Pankaj Mehta, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science and ANO 4 J&K Bn NCC. Students, faculty members, and staff were very active in this symbolic act for environment conservation.
In the second event, Student For Development (SFD) Coordinator, Mr. Shubham Raina explained and demonstrated the utilization of vermiwash,as an organic liquid fertilizer made from vermin composting. The session informed the participants about the sustainable method of farming by incorporating organic waste in the soil, which supports the motto of going green.
The third event in the series was conducted by Ms. Rubia Kouser, Research Scholar where she explained the procedure of using waste materials for Pellet formation using Bomb Calorimeter. The kind of knowledge shared in the session was helpful and down to practice in matters such as waste management, power and heat efficient fuel.
All these events were conducted under the supervision of Prof. Richa Kothari, Nodal officer for the SHS 2024 campaign where the activities were aimed at driving people to follow the core message of the campaign.
