The International Museum Day was observed by the Centre for Studies in Museology, University of Jammu, here today.
The International Museum day was observed at Govt High School Domail (Jammu) under the Supervision of Director of the Centre, Prof. Poonam Chaudhary and Assistant Professor Dr. Malay Dey. An Outreach programme was conducted on the theme ‘Hyper connected Museums, New Approaches and New publics’. The state of Jammu and Kashmir has a rich cultural heritage which needs to be inquired into, documented, preserved and conserved for posterity. The Sheikh Noor-ud- din Noorani Museum (University Museum) and the Centre for studies in Museology which is continuously working towards this end is reaching out to a vast majority and range of people to disseminate this rich culture to the student community. So this year the Centre decided to reach out to the students of Government High School, Domail. In this connection, Sheikh Noor -ud-din Noorani Museum of Heritage (University Museum) & Centre as a part of its outreach programme organised an interactive session that included live demonstration of making of Dogra handicrafts like Binnas etc and painting competition. Demonstration was conducted by Departmental scholars, Monika Choudhary and Mamta Sharma and painting competition was conducted by artists Amarjeet Singh, Ajay Kumar and Priya. The in-charge Shri Sanjeevan Singh and Miss Neha Bhagat, the teacher of the school coordinated the activities. The students from class VIII to X participated in the above mentioned programme.
As the school witnessed such type of activities for the first time and the students of the school enjoyed it very much.
