CEO gives away prizes as Gurukul sports meet concludes

JAMMU, May 01:
Saraswati Club won the Tug of War title beating Niharika Club in the final in the three-day SMVDSB Gurukul Sports meet that came to an end with the holding of valedictory function at Sports Stadium, Katra in district Reasi today.
In all, 150 inmates of the Gurukul (6th to 12th classes) took active part in the events of Basketball, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Tug of War.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SMVDSB, Simrandeep Singh was the chief guest.
He congratulated the winners, runners up teams for winning trophies and medals and complimented all participants for their healthy participation and exemplary discipline exhibited by them during the tournament.
He said that the sports meet shall be made a regular feature of Gurukul.
Simrandeep Singh presented trophies and medals to the winning teams and individuals for their achievement. He later declared the tournament closed.
Earlier, Director Sports, SMVDSB, Ashok Kumar gave a brief account of the first ever event.
He also presented report of various sports events to be covered in future by the Shrine Board as per the annual sports calendar of activities.
Deputy CEO and Administrator, Gurukul, Dr. Arvind Karwani presented vote of thanks. He thanked Director Sports and his team for coordination and conducting events in a successful manner.
Among those present were Rakesh Wazir (president Hotels Association Katra), Vivek Kaser (vice president Hotels Association Katra) and staff of SMVDSB and Gurukul.
The Results: Volleyball: Winner : Saraswati Club; runners up: Niharika Club. Basketball: Winner seniors group: Trikuta Club; Runners up: Ganga Club. Basket ball winners Junior group: Saraswati Club; Runners up: Vaishnavi Club.
Table Tennis: Phase I (Group) Doubles: Winners: Sahil Sharma and Shivangal Sharma; Runners-up: Hari Om and Goutam Sharma. Phase II (Group) Doubles: Winners: Sourab and Abhijeet; Runners-up: Sourab and Shubam. Tug of War: Saraswati Club, winner and Niharika Club, runners-up.
