Co-curricular activities are equally important in personality development as is the case of academics. The education does not take place only in the classroom but in the playground, library, seminar halls, computer room and other places helping students to groom their personality to become meaningful citizens of the country.
This was stated by senior BJP leader and former deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta after the foundation stone laying ceremony of Arts and Crafts Hall being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 12 lakh, here at Government Higher Secondary School Bahu Fort on Wednesday.
The former Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Vinay Gupta, BJP District President and ex-MLC Vikram Randhawa.
“Co-curricular activities fuel students’ learning capacity by stimulating creative thought, improving their social and organizational skills, developing interests and talents, and offering chance to grow as per their interests”, the senior BJP leader said, adding that this Hall on completion will prove helpful in honing the skills of children making them capable to compete with the outside world with added strength and confidence. He said that extra-curricular activities are must for the overall development of students.
“Sports and co-curricular activities are crucial for youth empowerment as these can prove helpful in the later stage of their life”, he said, adding that alongside students, the teachers also hold the responsibility to identify and explore the aptitude of student to help them choose their field of interest to ensure that they excel in their chosen field as one can touch skies if he or she gets chance to do things of his choice. He also assured the school management that the government is eager in improving the education sector and there is no dearth of funds required for infrastructure development.
Vinay Gupta and Vikram Randhawa also urged the students to develop their personalities keeping in mind that they have to face a world full of competition in the coming days and their success or failure then will depend on efforts they made today.
