The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Jammu today conducted a significant plantation drive, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” on its campus, in the presence of former Mayor Rajinder Sharma and two corporators Kapil Singh and Anil reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. This drive is organized with the help of Forest Department, Jammu and Kashmir. The event was part of the institute’s ongoing efforts to contribute to a greener and healthier environment for future generations.
The plantation drive, which took place in the lush surroundings of the IIMC Jammu campus, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff members. These efforts are expected to enhance the campus’s biodiversity and provide a natural habitat for local wildlife.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Dilip Kumar, Regional Director of IIMC Jammu, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among the youth. IIMC Jammu’s plantation drive aligns with the broader national and global efforts to combat environmental degradation and promote green initiatives. The institute plans to make this an annual event, aiming to contribute to the reforestation and greening of the region.
Those who participated in the plantation drive were Mr. Vivek Pathak (IIS), OSD (Admin) and Integrated Financial Advisor, IIMC Jammu, Prof (Dr) Anil Saumitra, Dr. Vinit Utpal, Assistant Professor, Mr Anoop Wattal, Senior office Assistant, Dr. Ravia Gupta, Assistant Professor, Vishv, Assistant Professor, Rajiv Kumar and Gulshan Kumar, academic associates along with Dinesh Joshi from Department of Forest, Jammu Range, Jammu and Kashmir.
