Col Mahan inaugurates key infrastructure projects in Bani

In a landmark event, Col Mahan Singh (Retd), DDC Chairman Kathua, was the Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony of 75 infrastructure projects, which were e-inaugurated by Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh from Sikkim. The ceremony was organized in collaboration with 69 RCC and witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, GREF staff, media personnel, and other invitees.
The highlight of the event included the e-inauguration of four major projects worth over Rs. 200 crore, all falling under the Bani Sub-Division. These projects are poised to significantly enhance connectivity in the region and included Road from KM 70 to KM 89, Maghar to Bani; Bridge over Sewa near Bani; Bridge over Lowang Nallah and road stretch from KM 89 to KM 93 on Bani-Baherwah Road.
As the engraved stone commemorating the inauguration was unveiled, cheers erupted from the crowd, marking the significance of these projects as a lifeline for the remote region.
Col Mahan Singh expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Modi Government and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for their commitment to completing these vital infrastructure projects in record time. He emphasized that the ongoing widening of the Bani to Chattergala Borderoads Road will be completed by July 2025, providing all-weather connectivity between Kathua and Doda districts. Additionally, he shared that the much-anticipated 4-lane PMDP Bharatmala project between Kathua and Doda via the Chattergala Tunnel is expected to commence in 2025, as assured by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari during his recent visit to Mahanpur in Kathua.
The event was a significant milestone for the Bani region, as these infrastructure developments are expected to boost economic growth and improve accessibility in this strategically important area.
