Col Mahan Singh (Retd), DDC Chairman of Kathua, held significant meetings with the Chief Engineer of PMGSY, Jammu, and the Chief Engineer of PWD (R&B), Jammu, to address the pressing road connectivity issues in Kathua district.
Delegations of residents from Deotha, Baggan Block, Godal Dhar Mahanpur Block, and Banjal, Bani Block traveled to highlight their concerns regarding the lack of road connectivity to isolated areas such as Deotha, Bareli, Madoon, Godal, and Banjal.
The non-availability of road connectivity to these regions, even after seven decades since Independence, remains a major issue. Recently, residents of Godal and Deotha had given poll boycott calls due to this persistent problem. However, local leadership managed to convince them to reconsider. The hope for improvement in their lives remains alive, especially with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm for a record third term.
During the deliberations, the visiting delegations, in the presence of Chairman DDC Kathua, were assured that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis. Additionally, residents of village Kurti Kasoori, Thein Pyt also met with Chairman DDC and the Deputy Commissioner Kathua last evening to express their woes regarding the lack of road connectivity to their isolated village in the Marel area of the Kandi region, surrounded by Thein Wildlife Sanctuary. After listening to their issues and consulting with officers, Col Mahan Singh assured each delegation that their genuine problems would be resolved to the best extent possible. In separate communications, DDC Chairman Kathua wrote to LG Manoj Sinha and Principal Secretary Bhupinder Kumar, requesting the allotment of special funds for isolated areas in the hilly, Kandi, and border regions of Kathua district. He also addressed the slow progress of crucial projects like Hatli-Manu and Katli-Daggar roads, emphasizing their importance for public development.
Furthermore, the DDC Chairman appealed to Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS PMO, for early clearance and fund allocation by the Union Ministry of Agriculture for the proposed second KVK in the district at Plakh, Basohli, to benefit the farming community.
