Basohli, Apr 10:
Col (Retd) Mahan Singh, DDC Chairman Kathua, paid a reverent visit to the centuries-old shrine of Baba Rajamandlik in Rehan near Basohli, receiving a rousing welcome from prominent citizens and members of the Baba Rajamandlik Shrine Committee.
Among those present were veteran Col Harnam Singh Billowaria, former JK Bank Manager Vijay Dev Singh, Lamberdar Kuldeep Singh, Sub Jasbir Singh, social activist Yubkaran Singh, Sardara Singh, and several other notable residents.
Col Mahan Singh offered prayers at the revered shrine and took a detailed round to assess the existing infrastructure and amenities for devotees who frequent the site throughout the year. He noted with pride the secular spirit of the shrine, as both Hindus and Muslims visit in large numbers.
The Shrine Committee presented key demands, including the construction of a 1-kilometer Pucca Link Road connecting the Shrine to the Basohli-Bani Road on one end and Rehan village on the other. They also appealed for protection work around the shrine and improvements to the adjacent children’s park.
Later, Col Mahan Singh visited the under-construction Rehan-Batada NABAR D-funded road and commended the proactive role of the Basohli Sub-Division administration in resolving land issues that had previously hampered project execution. He stressed that robust infrastructure and improved road connectivity in Basohli Rural Panchayat are essential to expanding the outreach and economic integration of the historic Basohli town.
In a gesture of remembrance and respect, the DDC Chairman also paid tribute at the memorial of Amar Shaheed Mast Ram and visited the families of late Ex-Subedar Joginder Singh and Teetu Ram, expressing his solidarity with them.
Concluding his visit, Col Mahan Singh called on the newly posted ADC Basohli, Pankaj Bhagotra (JKAS), to welcome him to his new role and held a brief interaction on various public concerns and ongoing developmental priorities in the region.
