Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla has asked the party cadre to gear up their activities in view of forth-coming elections in the State.In this regard a programme was organized at Chatha Farm in Gandhi Nagar constituency on Tuesday. The meeting was organized by Sarabjeet Singh Tinka who along with his supporters joined Congress party. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Block President and PCC member Amrit Bali, Sarpanch Avtar Singh Shanty, Block President SS Dutt, Teja Singh, Pawan Bhagat, Sunil Slathia, Gurdyal Singh, Gurmeet kour, Ravi Bhagat, Janak raj Bhagat, Nanak Singh, Manjeet Singh, Hardeep singh, Amarpal Singh, Gurvinder Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Jasbir Singh, Ramesh Sharma, Balwinder Singh beside others others.
Bhalla in his address briefed the meeting about the experiences in the recent electoral exercises and the plan to strengthen the frontal organizations and departments of the party to gear up for the future elections which are quite near and asked them to strengthen their respective frontal organizations and cells at booth, block and district levels.He said the new entrants reposed their faith in the Congress’ programmes and policies, saying it alone can safeguard their interests and ensure equitable development of the state’s three regions. Welcoming them to the party fold, Bhalla said, “The Congress has always provided a vibrant platform to youths to play their designated role in the state polity and help in shaping its politico-economic destiny”.
Describing the joining of the new entrants in Congress on daily basis as a “vindication of the Congress’ pro-people policies”, adding that the time has come to unite and defeat communal forces which are befooling the poor with false slogans.He said that the results of recently held Assembly elections in five states shows that Congress is the most acceptable secular force in the country. The need of the hour is to reach to the people in every nook and corner in order to make aware the common man, especially young generation about the programmes and policies of Congress party.Bhalla said that there is great opportunity for the Congress party to emerge stronger in view of the total betrayal and failure of BJP to fulfil the commitments and come up to the expectations of the people of this State. The BJP has been totally exposed in the eyes of the people and Congress feels the pulse of people and would move forward on right path to seek their attention towards Congress party in big way.Bhalla said that Congress is well prepared for assembly elections and expressed hope that Congress will emerge victorious as cheated and betrayed people of state by previous PDP-BJP Govt are very much clear to give mandate to Congress as they have realized by now that PDP-BJP coalition government miserably failed to live up to the expectations of the people.
There is a strong resentment among the people against previous government as it has not fulfilled its promises made at the time of Assembly elections. Bhalla said “People are realizing the futility of electing a government that was not only insensitive towards their problems but also responsible in adding to these on every front”, he said.Bhalla said Congress is the only destination for those who want peace to sustain and development to remain focused agenda of the government in the state. Bhalla also said the initiatives taken in this regard by Congress governments especially the previous one has been negated by the previous anti-people dispensation.
While criticizing BJP ,Bhalla said that agenda of alliance was nothing but an eye wash for the people and added BJP has taken Jammu and Ladakh for granted and has failed to recognize the developmental priorities and represent the aspirations of the people. He said that BJP failed to represent the sentiments and deliver the promises it made to the electorate and has been merely indulging in rhetoric to emotionally charge the people for their political interests. He said that the concern of people of the State and the entire nation is restoration of peace and normalcy by containing militancy in Kashmir Valley and to address the current unrest which is taking toll of people, fresh recruitment and their increasing attacks, targeting security forces is a matter of great concern. He said that merely strongly worded statements would not help to control the situation on the ground.
