Cong blames Home Ministry for Delhi violence, says complicity between BJP and police

In the wake of violent clashes between pro and anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters in National Capital’s north east area, the Congress on Monday said the Delhi police, under Union Home Ministry, has completely failed to control law and order. BJP leaders have been openly giving hate speeches and threats but no action is being taken”, the party tweeted along with a news report of former Delhi MLA and BJP leader Kapil Mishra giving ultimatum to Delhi police to stop the anti-CAA protests in North-East Delhi’s Jaffrabad and Maujpur areas. According to reports, on Sunday, the clash and stone pelting had started soon after Mr Mishra along with pro-CAA supporters gathered in Maujpur-Babarpur Metro Station, 2 km away from the Jaffrabad anti-CAA protest site, in the evening. Later, the BJP leader tweeted along with a video, in which he can been seen telling that they are giving three days ultimatum to Delhi Police to clear Jaffrabad and Chandbagh roads, else, they won’t listen and will take to the streets. Such comments can only be made with complicity of senior party leaders and the police”, the Congress further said. On Monday, a Delhi Police constable was killed and several others, including a DCP, were injured in the clashes. In a tweet, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “Very distressing news regarding disturbance of peace and harmony in parts of Delhi coming in. I sincerely urge LG and Union Home Minister to restore law and order n ensure that peace and harmony is maintained. Nobody should be allowed to orchestrate flagrations.
