In view of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow, BJP president Ravinder Raina said on Tuesday that the
Cong is on crutches
Congress Party is on crutches in Jammu and Kashmir.
“In Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress Party is on crutches, and it has already proved in the recent Lok Sabha elections that they could not win even a single seat,” Raina said.
He said that the visit of Rahul Gandhi and Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge will not turn the tables for the party, adding, “the parties like Congress, National Conference, and the Peoples Democratic Party had several times tried to fight against the BJP but could not succeed in results.”
Raina also said that the BJP will contest Assembly elections on its own on 70 to 80 seats in Jammu and Kashmir, adding, “In Kashmir, deliberations are on with some independent candidates, and those who will be capable of winning the seats will be supported by the BJP.”
Raina, on the announcement of candidates in the backdrop of the issuance of notification for the first phase elections, said, “The J&K election committee is holding’manthan’ on finalising the names, following which the names will be sent to the national election committee to take a final call, and very soon an announcement on BJP candidates will be made.”
The Election Commission of India issued a notification issued a notification on Tuesday for 24 assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir, where voting will take place on September 18.
The ECI issued notification for Pampore, Tral, Pulwama, Rajpora, Zainapora, Shopian, D.H. Pora, Kulgam, Devsar,Dooru, Kokernag (ST), Anantnag West, Anantnag, Srigufwara—Bijbehara,Shangus —Anantnag East, Pahalgam, Inderwal, Kishtwar, Padder—Nagseni, Bhadarwah, Doda, Doda West, Ramban, and Banihal seats.
The candidates can file nomination papers till August 27, while scrutiny of nominations will be held on August 28, and August 30 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature.
