Congress celebrates Birth Anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru

Rich tributes were paid to first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in a function held at PCC HQ. Shaheedi Chowk Jammu, to celebrate his 130th Birth Anniversary today.
The function was presided over by PCC Chief Sh. G.A. Mir while prominent leaders who paid tributes included S/Shri Tara Chand (Former Dy C.M.), Shri Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla & Smt. Kanata Bhan-Vice Presidents PCC; Co-treasurer Rajnish Sharma, General Secretaries Th. Balwan Singh, Th. Manmohan Singh, Shah Mohd Choudhary, District presidents Sh. Vikram Malhotra (Jammu Urban), Hari Singh Chib (Jammu Rural). Krishan Chander Bhagat (Udhampur) , Ex-MLAs Th. Shiv Dev Singh, Th. Balbir Singh and Smt. Indu Pawar; Frontal Org. Heads Udheybhan Chib (Youth), Rajesh Sadotra (Seva Dal) Raqiq Choudhary (NSUI), Suresh Dogra (OBC), S. Gurdarshan Singh (Minority), Corporators Gorav Chopra, Dwarka Choudhary, Kamal Singh, Pritam Singh, Bhanu Mahajan, Rashpak Bhardwaj, and Ritu Choudharma Krishan Lal Gupta, Narinder Gupta, Harvinder Singh Mehta, Pawan Raina, Shashi Sharma,S. Gajan Singh, Iqbal Dar, Rajiv Saraf, Sanjeev Panda, Rajveer Singh, Dr. Ramakant Khajuria, B.B. Gupta, Madan Lal Malagar, Mian Nazir Ahmed , Parshotam Mehra, Karan Bhagat and others.
PCC Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir in his address described Pt. Nehru as a Great Statesman and visionary leader who laid sound foundation of Modern India. He is Known as architect of Modern India because of his multi- dimensional contributions in shaping the future of Independent India.
He said that Pt. Nehru was a valiant freedom fighter, a hero of masses, a passionate Indian who was enraged by the injustices inflicted upon the oppressed people of India under British Raj . He gave up material comfort of life and dedicated his life to the struggle to free India from colonial rule . He was ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi and remained in jail for around nine years during freedom struggle. Nehru had an abiding commitment to democracy, equality and justice. Shri. Mir said that in recent times Nehru’s legacy has been under attack from his detractors, who are the ideological descendants of the Non- participants in the freedom struggle. It is time that the congressmen and all those who are aware of the great contributions of Pt. Nehru in the freedom struggle and as a leader of this nation, come together to counter those forces, who are trying to distort history, so that the generation to come are not misinformed and misguided regarding the core values that he represented and stood for. He asked the party functionaries of all levels to educate the masses about the principles and achievements of Pt. Nehru and other great leaders of this country and expose the false propaganda of the communal and divisive forces in the State.
Shri Tara Chand while paying floral tribute described Pt. Nehru as the tallest leader of his time, whose contribution in the freedom struggle and as first prime minister can never be forgotten. He said that contribution of Pt. Nehru to bring the state of J&K to the fold of Indian nation can’t be forgotten and there is need to expose the distortions being made by certain forces for vested political interests. He also lamented those who try to belittle the contributions of Pt. Nehru as leader of freedom struggle and as leader of the nation.
Shri Mula Ram described Pt. Nehru as a great visionary and architect who laid the foundation of Modern India. He said that the building of a democratic, social and political system was his principal objectives. For him political democracy was a means of solving social problems. He laid the foundation of Panchayati Raj and Community development programmes because he believed that first objective of the state was social welfare and empowerment of the people. He started planning system paving way to growth of public sector with massive investment in basic and heavy industries and resolved into industrialization of the country.
Shri Raman Bhalla in his address described Pt. Nehru as the tallest leaders of Modern times after Mahatma Gandhi. He said that contribution of Pt. Nehru to bring the state of J&K to the fold of Indian nation can’t be forgotten and there is need to expose the distortions being made by certain forces for vested political interests. He also lamented those who try to belittle the contributions of Pt. Nehru as leader of freedom struggle and as leader of the nation, who not only shaped the future of India but played the very vital rule in the world politics and was instrumental in the creation of third order in the world in the shape of NAM which emerged as a powerful block in the global politics.
Th. Balwan Singh, Th. Manmohan Singh, Sh. Vikram Malhotra and Hari Singh Chib also paid rich tributes to Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru and described him as architect of modern India.
