In a major shot in arm for Congress ahead of Lok Sabha elections, prominent businessman, former Editor-In-Chief of State Observer Newspaper Choudhary Yasmeen along with Ch. Sobat Ali today joined the Indian National Congress in the presence of Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
The young leader, along with over hundred of his supporters was welcomed into the party fold by Azad in a grand ceremony held at Noor Castle Banquet Hall , Noorabad, Chowadi, Jammu Friday afternoon, which was attended by tens of hundred people.
Welcoming Choudhary Yasmeen’s inclusion, Azad said, “Young people like Yasmeen joining the party will go on to boost prospects of the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and yet-to-be announced elections to State Legislative Assembly.”
“It is people like Choudhary Yasmeen connected to ground that will help Congress triumph over the inimical forces who are hell bent on destroying the secular fabric of Jammu region,” the Congress leader said. In his first remarks as Congress leader, Choudhary Yasmeen said that joining Congress was natural to him as it is the only party which can do justice to aspirations of people in all three regions of the State.
“Only Congress can safeguard the interest of every region of the Jammu and Kashmir as our State offers a unique proposition of diversity changing with region, religion and culture.” Choudhary said.
“As a Congress leaders, i shall ensure the party’s strengthening in Jammu region, doing my bit to ensure its victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly elections,” he added.
