Paying homage to father of nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th Birth Anniversary, Congress today said that philosophy of Gandhi Ji is more relevant today during the politics of hate and vendetta in the country.
Congress celebrated 150th birth anniversary of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi today at Gandhi Chowk Satwari in which most of the senior leaders of PCC, District Congress Committee and Frontal Wings of the party attended.
Floral tributes were also paid to Former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary today.
The Congress leaders and workers paid silent tributes as they bore white band on their mouth to convey their protest against restrictions to the freedom of speech and various kinds of restrictions on opposition leaders in the state since 4th August.
The Seva Dal workers in their traditional white uniform coordinated the function and sung the national Anthum and patriotic songs of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Congress party conveyed their strong resentment over the unjustified restrictions imposed on all sorts of political activity except by BJP during all these days, which is against the basic spirit of democracy and freedom attained by this country under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi who led the freedom struggle.

Briefing media persons on the sidelines of the function, PCC Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma said that Gandhi Ji fought for freedom and democracy and was martyred for his idea of India.
Today democracy is under threat from various quarters and opposition is denied the freedom of speech which is basis of freedom and democracy. Congress paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and conveyed its great concern by silently as a mark of respect to philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi which is under threat today.
