JKPCC Vice President Raman Bhalla on Tuesday strongly lambasted the present BJP Govt for failing on all fronts in giving a good and effective governance. He said under BJP regime the difficulties and miseries of people have increased many fold. He blamed the BJP Govt for ignoring Jammu region and devoid it of the development programme. This was observed by former Minister while interacting with people of Bishnah constituency on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Shashi Sharma PCC Secretary. The PCC leader said that Bishnah lack basic amenities of life and people of the constituency are suffering a lot due to the badly damaged roads, non availability of electricity and drinking water. He further said that more than 100 villages of Bishnah constituency have worst road connectivity as all the roads are damaged. He further said that the people of Bishnah constituency have every right of being a developed constituency and BJP has failed to develop this constituency. He added that both the Hospitals in Bishnah and Arnia are lacking the basic medical facilities and need an upgradation of these hospitals with full fledge 24×7 hour emergency facility. Both the hospitals should have trauma centre and adequate ventilators to save the precious lives of people. He also referred to the long power cuts in the area and appealed the PDD authorities to improve power supply position. He demanded a regular power supply to all the villages of Bishnah constituency.
Former Minister slammed the BJP for letting down Jammu on developmental front, saying it reversed the momentum during recent years.”The development effort initiated by Congress government was brought to grinding halt due to policy paralysis of the BJP,” he said.Bhalla castigated inimical forces for indulging in rhetoric and promoting divisive politics as they had nothing to offer to the people. These political actors keep self above the people and work for pursuing their own agenda. He said development has become a big casualty due to the self centric approach of the BJP, which is now again hoodwinking the public opinion by making false promises and indulging in emotive politics.Describing Congress as a force to reckon with, the former minister said assuaging political aspirations of the people and undertaking development on a massive scale holds key to steer Jammu and Kashmir to peace and prosperity. “We are committed to ensure equitable development in all the regions and sub-regions.
Bhalla said decentralization of power has been political philosophy of Congress which had immensely manifested in the revolutionary single line administration and has always remained on forefront towards fulfilling local urges and aspirations of different segments of people. He cautioned the people against the machinations of the BJP, which in the wake of letting down people of Jammu and being rejected by them is trying to divide the people on regional and religious lines. He said the people of Jammu are within their rights in asking the BJP of their achievements during last even years mis-rule. “They did not only fail the Jammu region but also raised hands as far as governance was concerned”, he added. To hide its failures and to divert the attention of people from real issues, the BJP is indulging in exploitative politics, generating animosity between various segments of society. He said the BJP does not believe in governance or pushing forward the agenda of development, as it has benefitted from communal politics, which it feels will continue to derive benefits and bail out the party during elections. He said the insensitive Government has also ignored weaker sections of the society including those belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes.Asserting the commitment of Congress to regional and religious unity in Jammu and Kashmir, Bhalla said that the party cadre was prepared for any sacrifice to nurture and sustain this glorious legacy.
Bhalla said the treachery of the BJP will continue to haunt the people of Jammu who had reposed their unflinching faith and support to it with the hope that Jammu may perhaps get a better deal as during the days of its wilderness in the opposition, the BJP leaders were crying hoarse over discrimination and neglect. Instead of showing grit to do something on ground for the people of Jammu, he charged the BJP for reversing some of the prestigious projects launched during the tenure of Congress for putting the Jammu region on equal pedestal of development. Bhalla ridiculed the BJP for pretending to be the self-styled Messiah of the Jammu region, and asked what it has delivered during its tenure except flaunting aggressive nationalism. The people had mandated the party for ‘Ache-Din’ and what they got in return is just a nightmare and ‘good fortunes’ for the BJP leaders, he added.
Bhalla claimed that BJP has lost the confidence of Jammu by betraying the people and exploiting them as commodity. The acts of omission and commission, inaccessibility, nepotism, favouritism apart from misgovernance and compromising with the interests of the region during its misrule will keep haunting politically conscious and sagacious people.”They will rebound when their turn comes,” he said.He said the inherent contradictions within the BJP are public and the “day is not far when the sinking ship will sink under its own weight”. He said by giving alibis on non-completion of various flagship projects in Jammu, the BJP has “blundered in undermining the wisdom of people, who have undergone a nightmarish era”.”After seven years, the people of Jammu got to know the meaning of BJP slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, which actually meant ‘Vikas’ of chosen few who were cradled in the seat of power,” he said. He also asked the BJP to explain as to why it “failed” in taking various flag-ship projects in the region to logical conclusion6: Lashing out at BJP for betraying Jammu people after seeking mandate on false promises, Bhalla expressed concern over governance deficit, administrative inertia, developmental break-down and irreparable dent to communal harmony caused during the past seven years.
