Congress today joined the hunger strike of Sarpanchs and Panchs over MGNERGA liabilities

Congress today extended open support by joining the ongoing hunger strike launched by Sarpanchs and Panchs, seeking clearing of pending payments and liabilities under MGNERGA scheme worth one thousand crores of rupees for the last over four years.
Extending full support of the party to the agitation launched by Sarpanchs and Panchs under the aegis of AJKPC as a team of Senior Congress leaders led by Chief Spokesperson JKPCC Mr. Ravinder Sharma, Former Minister & President DCC Samba Sdr. Manjit Singh, former Minister & DCC President Rajouri Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan, DCC President Jammu (Rural) Th. Hari Singh Chib, Senior leader and Sarpanch Shri Ram Saroop Sharma, Secretary PCC Neeraj Gupta, Chairman PCC Unorganised Workers Congress Rajveer Singh-Cha and Co-Cordinator PCC Social Media Cell Sahil Sharma joined the hunger strike at Dogra Chowk, today.
Talking to the media persons at the dharna site, Mr. Sharma extended full support to the agitating Sarpanchs and Panchs for their genuine demands of general public especially the MGNERGA workers and others who have not received their wages and payments for the material and the execution of various developmental works for the last 4 to 5 years in total violation of the MGNERGA Job Guarantee Scheme which provides that the wages have to be cleared within 15 days of the work done.
He said that lacs of job card holders and others who have rendered labour and other material component as well as got the works executed are suffering for years together while the previous BJP-PDP Government and present Administration is unmoved forcing the elected Panchayat representatives to resort to hunger strike under the leadership of AJKPC led by Shri Anil Sharma.
The party warned the Government not to sleep over the matter and clear the pending payments worth corers of rupees without any delay failing which the Congress party will intensify the agitation and come on roads in support of the agitation.
