As nationwide protest of the Congress party to observe the day as “Save Democracy Day” JKPCC held a Protest demonstration at Shahidi Chowk Jammu. Led by Former Minister and Vice President JKPCC Shri Raman Bhalla and other senior functionaries of PCC, DCC & leaders of frontal organizations including Youth Congress, NSUI, Mahila Congress, INTUC & Congress Seva Dal, hundreds of Congress workers wearing black badges, holding play cards in their hands amidst raising slogans assembled at outside party HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu. Senior leaders severely criticized BJP for violating constitution through its anti-democratic acts.
Raman Bhalla said that Governor of Karnatka who has colluded with Bharatiya Janata Party subverted the democracy by inviting BJP leader to take the oath of secrecy, whereas the Congress and JD(S) had already submitted the list of MLAs which were more than the required number to form the Govt. In doing so, he has not only undermined the dignity of his office, but has also acted in an unconstitutional manner. This dangerous precedent strikes at the very heart of India’s democracy and portends grave consequences for all forthcoming elections. He said that if single largest party is the criteria for inviting political parties to form the Govt. then why Congress was not invited in the recent held elections in Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya where Congress was the single largest party.
