Council for Civil Liberties, Chairman veteran socialist Inder Mohinder Tar Singh strongly condemned boorish attitude towards girl child and in this regard Tar Singh leads a protest to seek justice for a six year old girl Sanjana Bhagat who was brutally killed by her own father Suresh Kumar. The relatives and social activists from several organizations participated in the protest.
Tar Singh said we have been informed by the relatives of six year old girl child Sanjana Bhagat that she was killed by her own father Suresh Kumar of village Kangrail Bhalwal under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kanachak on April 19,2019(late evening) at around 10 PM. This is in human and we strongly condemn the same. We are sorry to inform that the concerned Police Station has not arrested Suresh Kumar and no FIR has been registered in this regard. It is unfortunate and total violation of Law of land and human rights.
Literally crime and sobbing Sonu Devi, the mother of the deceased informed that on April 19, 2019 my little daughter Sanjana was killed by her own father Suresh Kumar. His abuses woke me up and I was stunned when I did not find my daughter on the bed.
I got up as Suresh told me that he has killed and thrown Sanjana outside. I rushed towards Sanjana but Suresh picked her from the floor, scuffled her with piece of cloth and threw her mercilessly on the floor He rushed towards me and shouted now it is your turn .I started crying and shouting for help, on hearing my shouting the nearby neighbours approached and I was saved. Suresh kept on threatening me and repeatedly said that he has killed Sanjana and he will not spare me.
Further, Sonu Devi informed that right from the day one when Sanjana was born, Suresh had been threatening to kill her. So much so both of us were thrown out of the house when Sanjana was just three months old. We stayed at my parental house for over ten months and this was a routine that Suresh Kumar used to throw us out of the house off an own and every time mediators use to take us back with one or another pretext. I and my relatives use to be assured that Suresh Kumar will not repeat this any more but he was habitual and in this his mother Kamlo Devi, his elder brother wife Mamta Devi younger brother Ramesh kumar use to beat me mercilessly and get me thrown out of the house, said Sonu Devi mother of the deceased Sanjana Bhagat .
Tar Singh said we have been also informed that inspite of Suresh Kumar’s repeated confession made at Police Station Kanachak that he has killed Sanjana . He is not arrested so far and no FIR has been lodged in this regard
This is unfortunate that Suresh and his family were bent upon to hush up the matter by performing the last rights immediately but their plan failed on the intervention of Sonu Devi’s relatives who had arrived that 3 AM(20April 2019). Investigating Officer (I.O) arrived at 5 AM and the SHO too arrived at 7.30 AM and directed to take the body of the deceased to Govt. Medical College at 10.00 AM for Post -Mortem.
After the Post Mortem the body of the Sanjay Bhagat was handed over at 4 PM . Suresh and his family did not allow to perform the rituals and without giving a bath they rushed to Akhnoor Gurudwara Sahib and the dead body was set on pyre at nearby ghat. Mother of the deceased at maternal relatives were not allowed to touch the dead body this is what we have been informed by the relatives.
Tar Singh strongly urged upon the authorities especially His Excellency Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Sh. Satya Pal Malik to intervene personally and direct the concerned ones to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter and mean while the officers should be withdrawn from the Police Station , Kanachak so that no one may influence the probe
We further , appeal that an FIR should be lodged and culprits should be arrested immediately as Sonu Devi and hr relatives have fear that culprits may harm them.Coucil For Civil Liberaties demand that such criminals should not be spared and should be dealt sternly as per the Law of Land, concluded Tar Singh.
Prominent among others who protested are S. Hari Singh ( Former Sarpanch),Suresh Bhagat , Allauddin Pardesi, Bupinder Singh,Gurbaksh Singh,Sanjay Manhas, Tariq Parvez,Rattan lal (all social activitists), Sanduror Ram,Rattan Lal,Jugal kishore, and Sewa Ram,(Relatives).
