Council Secy extends helping hand to ailing Judoka

Acting on the request of coaches and manager Indoor Complex, Secretary J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) has extended a helping hand to senior ailing Judo player, Bhanu Partap, who had suffered severe injuries while training at Indoor Complex, M A Stadium, here.
“To meet part of the medical expenses, the JKSSC Secretary, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra was kind enough to consider the plea of coaches and the player to approve a financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh,” Manager Indoor Complex, Satish Gupta, who played a key role in taking up the case, told SAN.
A former junior India camper in Judo and Asian Champion in yet another similar event of Kurash, Bhanu received serious injuries on his neck and had to shift to Delhi for advanced treatment.
“Out of danger now, Bhanu while practicing had a wrong fall at Judo Hall of MA Stadium in December last. Initially, we thought it was a routine injury, but the diagnosis indicated it something serious and risking life of the Judoka. Left with no other option, the family had to shift him to Delhi for treatment. It took him almost four months recover,” narrated Judo coach, Suraj Bhan Singh.
In fact, it was a joint effort on part of the Indoor Management, Judo coaches and the Judo Association to convince the Secretary, JKSSC, who in turn managed to sanction the financial help. In fact, the JKSSC was approached for an assistance of Rs two lakh.
When contacted, Bhanu Partap, he said, “I have received a letter from the JKSSC sanctioning Rs one lakh in my favour. The help extended by the Secretary Sports Council truly shows his concern for sports and the sportspersons in the state,” said Bhanu Partap.
