Presently, the companies of the Unit are deployed in Katra, Ardhkuwari, Mata Bhawan, Bhairo Ghati and Sukal Ghati. The yatra was going on smoothly as usual, suddenly, pious Trikuta Hills in Katra were engulfed in fire on 22.05.18 which spread dangerously on 23.05.18 when it reached near Himkoti between Bhawan and Ardhkuwari, due to which yatra was stopped till dousing of fire. The heli services were also affected due to dense smoke in the area.
All the agencies deployed there were engaged in controlling the fire. CRPF played a commendable role in this entire exercise and displayed exemplary co-ordination with local police and shrine board staff in controlling the fire upto large extent. The troops of 6 Bn CRPF deployed there participated significantly; controlled and regularized the movement of pilgrims which otherwise could have created panic among them. It also ensured safe passage of Fire brigade vehicles to ensure swift dousing of fire. They also proactively involved themselves in dousing the fire with whatever resources were available with them. The courage of CRPF personnel prevented the spreading of fire on one hand and won hearts of public on the other. The pilgrims who were helped by CRPF expressed their deep respect for the troops and showered their gratitude towards them. CRPF has once again shown that it is always ready for the safety and security of the people.
