The vibrant cultural festival, ‘Yuvtarang-2024,’ organized by the Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) under the esteemed patronage of Honourable Vice Chancellor, Senior Prof. K.S. Chandrasekar, continues to shine as a beacon of student talent, fostering unity, creativity, and the spirit of competition across the Cluster University community, that witnessed spirited celebration of student talent today at GCW Gandhi Nagar and MAM College in a variety of competitions, including Western Vocal Solo, Western Vocal Group, Western Instrumental Solo, One-Act Play, and Mimicry.The day’s events culminated in a valedictory and prize distribution ceremony graced by Prof. S. P. Saraswat, Principal of GCW Gandhi Nagar, and Dr. B. B. Anand, Principal of MAM College. Observers for the competitions included Dr. Zubair Ahmed Kalis Dean Cluster University Jammu and D.S. Manhas, Director Placement Cell, CLUJ. The events were expertly coordinated by Dr. Babita Jamwal, Chairperson-cum-Cultural Convenor at GCW Gandhi Nagar, and Dr. Amit Pal Kour Associate Dean-cum- Cultural Convener at MAM College, along with their dedicated teams.
At GCW Gandhi Nagar, in the Western Vocal Solo competition, Ridhima Bajpai of GCW Gandhi Nagar claimed first place, followed by Urvashi Bharti of GGM Science College in second, and Sharad Chettri of MAM College in third. The Western Vocal Group competition saw MAM College at the top position, with GCW Gandhi Nagar and GGM Science College earning second and third places, respectively. In the Western Instrumental Solo category, Sunny Topno of MAM College emerged as the winner, with Arpit Mattoo of SPMR College of Commerce taking second and Sharad Chettri of MAM College placing at third. The noted artists Dr. Jasmeet Kour, HOD Music GCW Parade, Jagdeep Singh and Narinder Wazir acted as jury at GCW Gandhinagar.
At MAM College, in the fiercely contested one act play competition, Team of MAM College claimed first place, followed by team of GCW Gandhi Nagar and second and team of SPMR College of Commerce clinched the third position. In one act play the individual category the first position of best actor was clinched by Vrinda Gujral, whereas second and third positions for best actor went to Pratistam Sharma nd Amit Sing Manhas Respectively. In mimicry, Akash katoch of MAM College emerged as the winner, with Savi of GCW Gandhi Nagar taking second and Lakshmi Sharma of MAM College placing third. The distinguished panel of judges, including Kamal Razdan, Sumit Sharma and Pankaj Khajuria commended the students’ artistic skills at MAM College.
Dr. Monika Sharma, Dean of Students Welfare, provided outstanding leadership in organizing the event, with coordination from Dr. Kuldeep Raina, Cultural Convenor. Associate Deans Prof. Tarseem Lal and Dr. Ashaq Hussain, along with Assistant Deans Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, Prof. Sunita Kumari, Prof. Paramjeet Singh, Prof. Mohd. Ashraf, and Dr. Roomi Rani, also played an integral role in organizing the day’s events.
