“It is the dance of democracy that has triumphed in the festival of the first phase of District Development Council (Zila Parishad) elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today”, stated Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader and Incharge, Deptt of Political Affairs and Feedback, J&K-BJP.
Chrungoo was speaking today while on his visit to the Polling Centre created for the displaced people of Kashmir. He lauded the efforts of the government, administration and the Election mechanism under the supervision of the SEC, J&K for taking bold and historic decision in favour of the displaced voters to do away with the M-form absurdity after three decades of its prevalence. Though done late, yet it is indeed a historic step that paves way for more reforms in future. He said, “the enthusiasm of people despite sever cold in the UT and the percentage of voting strongly suggest that the three things which cost lives of one lakh of people in the state at last have been buried deep down the ground in J&K for good ie, Azadi, Autonomy & Article 370/35A. People have already given and will further be giving an appropriate reply to Pakistan and the separatist forces through these important DDC, BDC and Panchayat elections”.
The three-tier system of Panchyati-Raj has ultimately taken roots in the UT after seven decades of independence and self-rule dispensation despite initial hiccups created by the earlier rulers. This is the major positive implication of the abolition of the so-called special status of the state. Moreover, it has given citizenship rights and the voting rights to all the people in the Union Territory of J&K without any discrimination.
“The next target for the government after the elections should be development and the establishment of peace. However, peace is incidental to the elimination of terrorism and violence. Therefore terrorism, terror infrastructure and the terrorists need to finished and neutralised for all the times to come thus paving way for peace, progress, development and harmony. The Jammu and Kashmir has been put on it’s new path to create a positive history for future generations by the government headed by our beloved Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister”, added Chrungoo.
