Day 4: Chenab Valley districts remain abuzz with ‘Back to Village’ programme DDCs exhort locals to adopt scientific methods of agriculture, horticulture

JAMMU, JUNE 22: On the fourth-day of week-long ‘Back to Village’ programme, the districts of Chenab Valley remained abuzz with a host of activities under the ambitious outreach initiative of the State Government aimed to take governance to the doorsteps of the people.

At Ramban, a slew of activities today marked the day in all the 31 panchayats of Gool, Sangaldan,  Gandhari and Gundi Dhram blocks of the district.

District Development Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, visited various Panchayats and reviewed the implementation of “Back to Village” programme.

DDC said that the main focus of the programme is on further streamlining functioning of Panchayats, seeking feedback on the implementation status of government programmes and economic potential in multifaceted areas besides undertaking assessment of needs of the villages.

People raised several development issues including construction of drains, macadamization of roads, augmentation of power and drinking water supply, works under MNREGA, construction and repair of culverts, repair of power supply schemes, staff shortage and development of health and educational infrastructure.

The officers assessed the specific economic potential of the villages and employment opportunities and also acquainted people with various schemes and programmes of the Government.

The officers accompanied by PRIs paid visits to AWCs, schools, healthcare centers, PMGSY roads, PMAY houses, SBM toilets, 14 FCA works, government buildings and other institutions to assess their working and service delivery mechanism. They visited several areas and inspected development activities.

The PM letter addressed to the Gram sabhas was read out on the occasion.

At DODA, a series of meetings and interactions with members of PRIs, gram sabha, prominent citizens and locals marked the second day of pahse II  of ambitious “Back to Village” programme in 59 Panchayats of district. Besides, public feedback on development works and their grievances were also assessed.

District Development Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode, visited panchayats of Ghat and Thathri block wherein he inaugurated two newly constructed link roads, playfields, sanctioned patwarkhaana, inspected schools, filtration plant, executed works on semi pacca path, construction of compound wall at Thathri and Ghat block.

DDC participated in the gram sabhas and listened to the public grievances besides taking their feedback on implementation of government schemes.

Besides, multi activities like distribution of Job Cards, de silting of khulls, Swachh Mission, awareness camps besides holding of meetings with elected ‘panchs’ and ‘sarpanchs’, ‘mahila sabhas’ in addition to other grassroots level interactions were held.

Director Agriculture Jammu Pawan Singh Rathore conducted gram sabha in Bhella panchayat of Block Thathri and recorded the issues raised by the people. He inspected government institutions.

ADDC Doda Imam Din also visited some panchayats of Bhalesa and Udhyanpur block and interacted with the locals in gram sabhas besides inaugurating Anganwadi centre.

At Kishtwar, the second phase of unique initiative, ‘Back to Village’ for delivering governance at the door steps of public is gaining momentum as the civil administration today carried out multiple- activities enshrined in the programme in 54 panchayats of district Kishtwar.

District Development Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana, visited panchayat Badhat and Bugrana of Block Drabshalla wherein he met with PRIs, prominent citizens and locals and sought feedback from about ongoing development works besides taking stock of their grievances.

In Panchayat Badhat, DDC met with Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K Dr. Saleem-ur- Rehman and had feedback on implementation of the programme.

Various events were held including tug of war,  Kabbadi, Volley ball and Swacchta rally in Badhat Panchayat.

ACD Kishtwar, Anil Kumar Chandail,  DYSSO,  Jaffer Haider, BDO Drabshalla Kapil Deol and other concerned officers  and officials were present.

Later, prizes and sports kits, track suits were distributed among the winners.

DDC urged upon the locals to adopt scientific methods of agriculture, horticulture, dairy and poultry sector.
