To raise awareness among youth of Bandipora about Drug Abuse and to inculcate the message of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’, a high altitude Bike Rally was today organised by District Administration Bandipora in collaboration with Legend Riders Club, Bandipora, here.The rally witnessed massive participation and it has been a major step in raising awareness among youth and public at large to stay away from Drugs.Sensing its importance the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed, along with SSP Bandipora participated in the rally and led the mission from the front.The rally started from mini-secretariat complex Bandipora and culminated at Sumbal. In between sweets and more than 6000 pamphlets and stickers with a message about drug abuse were distributed on many contact points while interacting with youth.The DC emphasized that youth are a big asset to our nation and they should respect the precious gift of life and never misuse it by deviating from the right path towards social evils.He emphasised that drugs are silent killers that ruin the society as a whole and that youth should take responsibility towards their society by involving themselves in positive social and physical activities.He also encouraged youth of Bandipora to form youth clubs which are being supported by District Administration Bandipora so that they can pursue their hobbies while spreading a message of social importance.President Legend Riders Club, Suhail Rather said the rally was organised to create awareness against drug abuse. He said fighting drug menace is the collective responsibility of all including the government and the people as it concerns everybody. He urged the people to report about such practices quickly to the concerned law enforcing agencies so that preventive measures are taken.ADC Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir and SDM Sumbal, Dr Bashir Ahmad received the rally at Irrigation Colony Sumbal and welcomed them besides providing refreshment to the participants. A large gathering of people had also assembled to welcome the bikers in their town.
