Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh on Thursday flagged off a dedicated voter registration van here from the DC office complex aimed at facilitating the enrollment of eligible voters in the Panchayat Electoral Roll 2025.
The initiative is part of the special revision process, with January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date to determine voter eligibility.
The van will visit different panchayats across the district, ensuring that no eligible citizen is left unregistered for the upcoming Panchayat elections.
Accompanying the DC during the event were Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pran Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sudershan Kumar; Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Manesh Kumar Manhas; Deputy District Election Officer Om Prakash and other district officers and officials. Their collective presence underscored the district administration’s commitment to enhancing voter participation and ensuring a smooth and inclusive revision process.
The voter registration van is equipped with necessary resources and staffed with trained personnel to assist citizens in verifying their details, correcting errors, and enrolling new voters. Special emphasis is being placed on enrolling young voters who have recently turned 18 and other marginalized groups to promote inclusivity in the electoral process. DC Harvinder Singh urged all eligible residents to take advantage of this opportunity and ensure their participation in grassroots democracy.
The drive was part of a broader effort by the administration to promote awareness about the significance of voting in strengthening democratic institutions. Through such initiatives, the district aims to set an example of participatory governance and transparent electoral practices.
