Mobilise people, reinforce mass movement for sanitation: DC to officers

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 15: Deputy Commissioner Office, Jammu, today organized a programme to witness the nationwide launch of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign by Prime Minister.

Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, DPO Sunaina Saini, BDOs and senior officers from the concerned departments were present on the occasion.

Swachhata Hi Seva movement began with ‘Swachharambh’ programme in which Prime Minister interacted with the people from different part of the country through video conference, who are connected with the Clean India Mission.

In this campaign, Swachhata Sabhas will be conducted in Gram Panchayats on September 16 while on September 18, Seva Diwas i.e Nationwide Shramdaan will be conducted. A cleanliness drive will be conducted in Railway Stations and its surrounding areas onSeptember 22. From September 29 to October 2, 2018, Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention will be held in New Delhi.

Later, DC Jammu reviewed the arrangements being made for the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign which will culminate on October 02, 2018. He directed the concerned officers to work with full determination to make the campaign a grand success.

The DC asked the concerned officers to put in a dedicated effort to fulfil the objective of the campaign i.e. to mobilise people and reinforce mass movement for sanitation. He entrusted upon them to ensure that large scale mobilisation of people from all walks of life shall undertake voluntary work for cleanliness and construction of toilets to make their environment open defecation free.

The DC instructed the officers to reach out to the poor and marginalised and provides them with sustainable sanitation services.

He asked the concerned departments to conduct Shramdaan activities in PHCs, CHCs, primary and secondary schools, main markets of the areas, religious & tourist places, Panchayat Ghar, water bodies and directed the CMO, CEO and PO ICDS to hold personal hygiene programme for women staff in hospitals, schools and anganwadis, respectively.
