DC Kathua reviews implementation of PMEGP, JKREGP schemes

Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, today chaired a meeting of officers from stakeholder departments at the DC Office Complex here to review the progress achieved under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP).
The meeting was attended by General Manager District Industries Centre Mushtaq Chaudhary, Lead District Manager Aman Jasrotia, Director RSETI Kathua, Utpala Saikia, District Officer KVIB Surinder Sharma and IPO DIC Shivang Gupta among other officials.
The DC took a detailed review of the cases sanctioned, approved and pending under the twin self-employment schemes being implemented in the district to promote entrepreneurship and generate livelihood opportunities. It was informed that only a limited number of cases were rejected by the banks due to deficiencies in documentation and other technical reasons. It was also apprised that a few eligible cases are pending at different stages of approval.
Emphasizing the importance of timely processing of applications, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to take proactive steps to ensure early disposal of all pending eligible cases so that beneficiaries can avail themselves of the benefits of the schemes without delay.
The Lead District Manager was instructed to revert the details of rejected cases to the concerned departments so that necessary corrective measures can be taken and the applicants may be guided for the next course of action.
The DC reiterated that the effective implementation of PMEGP and JKREGP plays a vital role in promoting self-employment and strengthening the local economy and called upon all stakeholders to work in close coordination to achieve the targets set for the district.
