DC Kishtwar reviews implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan today chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes in the District.
The meeting was aimed at evaluating the progress of the mission, identifying challenges, and ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of potable water to every household.
Speaking at the meeting, the DC emphasized the importance of expediting the Mission works to meet the national target of providing functional tap water connections to all rural households by 2025.
He directed the concerned officials to closely monitor the progress, address any bottlenecks, and ensure smooth execution of ongoing projects.
Key discussions included the current status of water supply schemes, the identification of vulnerable areas and the implementation of innovative solutions to overcome challenges. The officials also reviewed the necessary infrastructure development, including water treatment and distribution system.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for continuous coordination among all departments involved in the mission, and urged the officials to maintain transparency and accountability in the utilization of funds. He also underlined the importance of community participation to ensure sustainability and effective usage of water resources.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to achieving the mission’s targets and improving the living standards of rural communities by providing them with safe and clean drinking water.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including CPO Kishtwar, Shahnawaz Bali, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Sunil Sharma, AEEs, JEs and other concerned officers.
