Deputy Commissioner (DC) Leh, Avny Lavasa today convened a meeting today with concerned district officers to discuss the proposal for developing eco-village at Spangmik and Lukung.
During the meeting, DC urged upon the officers to plan a workable project in a sustainable manner considering the environment fragility of the region. She stressed on providing basic amenities like drinking water, toilet and parking facility. She consulted with the concerned departments about the potential of promoting yak tourism at Pangong and instructed them to explore its possibilities. She urged them to open sale centers at Pangong to promote handicraft, handloom, yak cheese and yak products.
DC instructed Geographical Information System Engineer Dr. Asif Hussain to make a route map of essential services and important infrastructures along the route from Leh to Pangong so as to provide an easy access to various facilities available to the tourists. She emphasized on improving and prioritizing the home stay at Durbuk Sub-Division to benefit local residents in terms of income generation. She asked to provide benches along the Pangong Lake, registration for camps and other necessary requirements.
ACD, RDD, Leh informed about the successful functioning of Tsangda project at Pangong Lake and said that efforts are on to strengthen it further.
Addl. District Development Commissioner, Leh Moses Kunzang and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
