Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib, attended World Water Week at Stockholm, Sweden organised from 25th to 30th of August, 2019 organized by Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI).
Chib was part of a delegation led by Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Secretary, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Parmeswaran Iyer, among two DCs from other parts of India.
This year’s annual global event, with theme ‘Water for Society: Including all’, was attended by 4000 participants from 138 countries.
Parameswaran Iyer, in his valedictory address, highlighted initiatives of Government of India towards ensuring that all Indians get access to clean water and safe sanitation before 2024. “In a campaign that launched recently, the government has sent about 1200 government officials in the field to talk to the people about water conservation “, he asserted.
