Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Ms. Nidhi Malik today chaired the District Advisory Committee (DAC) meeting on the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act at the Video Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the Act across the district, with detailed discussions on the registration of ultrasound centres, offences, penalties, and the overall monitoring mechanism. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Reasi provided an update on the district’s seven ultrasound clinics, comprising five private centres and two government-run facilities. He also presented the latest Child Sex Ratio data and detailed the inspection process being followed.
The DC emphasized the vital role of the Act in promoting a healthy girl child sex ratio and directed strict enforcement through random inspections of ultrasound clinics.
She stressed the need for innovative measures to improve the Child Sex Ratio, aligning it with the national average.
The DC further called for the effective implementation of the Act to curb illegal sex determination practices.
The PCPNDT Act, passed by Parliament in 1994, aims to prevent female foeticide and halt the declining sex ratio by banning prenatal sex determination.
The meeting was attended by CMO Reasi, DIO (Info), Medical Superintendent, Senior Gynecologist, Senior Pediatrician, and other concerned officials.
